Persona 3 Portable Pre-order Bonus Revealed

People of the Blog of PlayStation,

The purpose of this post is two-fold:

  1. We wish to remind you of and/or inform you of the existence of our upcoming RPG epic, Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable for the PSP.
  2. We would like to bring to your attention the below pre-order bonus for Persona 3 Portable (only at participating retailers, only while supplies last)

Persona 3 Portable: Pre-order bonus (Junpei cap)

“What is it?” you ask? Why, it’s a lovely collectible (and wearable, fortunately) cap modeled after the one worn by popular character Junpei Iori, Gekkoukan High School’s bantering, jabbering class clown.

Not familiar with him? Or the game, perhaps? That’s where this post comes in.

SMT: Persona 3 Portable is the handheld version of one of the highest-rated, meatiest RPGs of all time. “What’s so special about it?” you ask as you click around multiple tabs in your web browser. Persona 3’s unique dichotomy of social sim and dungeon crawling elements shakes the genre to its core, offering a constantly refreshing blend of character development, sharp writing, a powerful narrative, and ultra fast-paced turn-based combat in the many varying levels of Tartarus.

Let’s face this enemy! (get it?)

In an interesting twist, the bonds you share with your friends are the source of your strength in battle. As your relationships, called “Social Links,” are increased and ultimately maxed out, you will unlock new abilities and grow much stronger when engaged in combat. The game is full of options in terms of whom you can befriend and/or choose to spend your time with, meaning that maxing out all your social links becomes a very tough, very satisfying challenge. The game is full of contrasts, which is most apparent in the disparity between the action of Tartarus versus the joys of spending time with friends.

The PSP system release of P3P offers the most refined, improved version of the game to date. In addition to new content, functionality and features, like faster load times, one-button menu shortcuts, streamlined team equipment changes, and part-time jobs, P3P also adds a new playable female protagonist.

Pretty in pink.

Playing through the game as this new character, series fans will notice a number of new and different dialogue (and since the original voice cast is intact, they’ll all sound exactly as they should). Other content additions include new social links, special events, and new romantic opportunities.

  • When P4P comes out do we get a Teddy mask? ;)

  • I was wondering why do some games from Atlus come out at 30 then others at 40? Take Hexyz Force which will be 30 & Persona 3 Portable which is 40. I so would like to see more games from Atlus at the 30 price range. Not that hard to guess seeing as it is cheaper.

Does it have to do with the making of the game costing more? So a higher price makes it easier to get the money back. I am going to buy P3P. So don’t take the question that I am not. I was just wondering. If you can’t go into it not a problem. Both games I am looking forward too. The team at Atlus makes great games. So I can’t wait to play them. I just wish you would give my wallet a breather.

  • Mmm… I’ll preorder regardless but I was hoping for something better than a hat. :(

  • Holy cow! Must…. have… I mean the game haha. So great the PSP is supported by quality RPG’s, but erm, any chance we’ll be getting an epic Shin Megami Tensei game for its big brother PS3? Like any time very soon???

  • hmmmm i never finished the ps2 version of persona 3, as it got a little repetitive, but now that its portable….im unsure lol

  • Not interested in the hat, so I’ll just nab the PSN download. I might wait a week or two after launch since I’m lazy and being picky choosy since I’m still trying to complete games I haven’t completed before the games I want to own. I’m not even planning on touching 3D Dot Heroes until I can smash a few more PS3 games in the complete bin. I might as well finish P3, Strange Journey, then tag Soldner-X and come back to P3P and go to 4.

  • too bad its only US and Canada, but i will get the game though :-) (i already have Persona PSP limited edition!)

  • I would be more inclined to get it if it had the actual ‘answer’ content, or will that be DLC later?

  • I belt would have bee so awesome

  • I just want to thank you for making this available to those of us with a PSP Go – way too many big PSP releases have come out only on UMD and I think had Persona 3 missed it, that would have been the last nail in the coffin for my Go.

Any chance we’ll see Persona 4 hit the PSP?

  • If it was significantly cheaper on the Go I’d definitely get it.
It’s a shame that Go owners have to pay the same price minus all the goodies….

If I buy it it will be on UMD for sure.

  • while the hat does look nice, it seems stupid to see how the umd version is cheaper than a digital copy of the game (dispite not legally owning it, and how much less it cost to make/package) and that one persona game for the psp while at 19.99$ ALSO comes with a 2-disc cd that i just recently picked, while the digital version remains 39.99$ pathetic!

plus the fact that i might not even get the hat thanks to stupid employees, but its ok ill most likely buy this game used anyway…

  • I would love for use to make a Pesona game for the PS3. I still own Persona 1 and 2, however I have not bought any for the PSP. Though I own a PSP-3000 I have only played a couple of games on it, I use it as a ipod for the most part. I don’t like playing games on handhelds I want to be able to play it on my big screen not that little one. Please consider putting one on the PS3.

    Thanks for listening(Oops…I mean reading)

  • One question… how much GB!? My Go is always full >_< and I already deleted all the music -__-

    • OmegaWeaponGeanC,

Expect the PSN version to be between 1-1.2GB, depending on the level of compression of the final package. Hope that helps!

  • You really need to support PSPgo with these pre-orders bonuses as well. P3P is a must buy for me and I would pre-order except that I have a PSPgo. Find a way to make it work as you’re breeding unnecessary discontent.
