This PlayStation 3 exclusive, psychological thriller will be available at retail on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 (mark it on your calendar). Don’t forget to pre-order your copy now so you will receive the first chapter of Heavy Rain Chronicles (upcoming downloadable-only episodes for Heavy Rain) at no cost, and you’ll be able to download the first chapter once you’ve picked up your copy of Heavy Rain (otherwise, all others will need to pay $4.99 per chapter and won’t be able to download until a month later — more info to come on Heavy Rain Chronicles).
In addition, we are also confirming that the Heavy Rain demo will be available in North America on Thursday, February 11, 2010 (mark it on your calendar) for download from the PlayStation Store. The demo will allow players to play two chapters from Heavy Rain, featuring Norman Jayden, an FBI agent brought in to help local authorities track down the Origami Killer, and Scott Shelby, a private detective hired by the families of past victims of the Origami Killer to find the serial killer.

Question about the pre ordering thing to get the DLC. I went to my local gamestop and they said they didn’t see where it’s stated that if I preorder I get the DLC. So I have not preordered yet, what’s happening there? I am definitely gonna pre order though, but yea.
If you don’t mind, could you please confirm the list of supported languages (audio & subtitles) on the disc?

I was going to pre-order the game. After the cover art was shown, however, I changed my mind on the off chance that the artistic choices within the game are just as misguided as those that went into the packaging. Will check out the demo and post-launch reviews.

“Going Gold” has nothing to do with selling 500k copies. Or selling any copies for that matter.
It means that the company has finalized the version of code that will appear on the Blu-Ray disc. And can now send it out for mass-production.
Any changes after “Gold” will come in the form of downloaded patches.

Gold is not a sales reference. Gold refers to the fact that the “Gold copy” or the “Master copy” has been printed. In other words the copy that all the rest of the copies are copied from.

I never for a second thought the game would disappoint. I already have it pre-ordered. And I know the date has been set, but dates CAN be pushed back. It’s not like that’s never happened in gaming.
I was just saying that judging by the Heavy Rain blog on IGN, particularly yesterdays post, you’d never think that the very next day the game would be announced “Gold”. He was talking about frustration with finishing the game, and never thinking it would get finished. And was talking about the work he still had to go.
I just thought those IGN Blog posts were “real-time” thoughts. They obviously weren’t.

I want this game so badly it hurts. I cannot bloody wait.
Already have this paid off and waiting. Looking forward to it and hopefully we’ll see more of Heavy Rain in the future. Only thing I could see adding to this already great game, is face-mapping. Putting yourself in a virtual movie/dramatic game would be pretty cool to see.
Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 has it, and it’s great to see a use for the PSEye.
It took this long to go to manufacturing and you couldn’t swap out that artwork for something better? A blank piece of paper with “Heavy Rain” written in magic marker would have be better.
Game looks great though. Can’t wait!

Glad to see the game has gone Gold. I’ll be waiting on this one though. Aside from lack of money, Indigo Prophecy was kinda… not as good as it should have been in my opinion.

It’s going to be another awesome PS3 exclusive. To think two years ago the PS3 was struggling with tittles, now they are putting out quality exclusives 2-1 against the comp.

I’m so glad there’s a demo. Why? Because this game can only be understood by playing the game itself, it can’t be described. I would not be surprised if this game has a great word of mouth.

i’m enjoying MAG, i have white knight cronicles, battlefield 2, god of war 3 all on pre order status, looking forward to eyepet, modnation racers, final fantasy iv, agency and dc universe..
but heavy rain is the one title i’m most excited for this year.. fell in love with indigo prophecy, sort of remember omikron.. even with just a handful of games out, quantic dreams is rising to the top of my list of favorite developers/companies in the gaming industry…
oh and i love the heavy rain animated theme.. that will be my theme for a long time..
for giggles you should throw the Heavy Rain Cast into uncharted 2’s multiplayer LOL that would be awesome..
also sony pictures should consider a mini movie (cgi or real life) quantic dreams stories really bring you in, an animated or real life film short by sony pictures almost seems like a no brainer…

One: When a game goes Gold it means is ready to be printout, that has pass the SCEA quality assurance and can be published.
Two: This is a shorter version of the Japanese trailer, but still interesting to make it more intriguing.
Three: Demo being worldwide in EU and US the same day??? I think I’m gonna faint, this had to be a dream. It’s a miracle.
You know, remember that Uncharted 2 commercial of the “girlfriend that thinks it a movie” spot, well they should do a part two of that “non-issue” with this game.
My anticipation for Heavy Rain has been so much, that I actually scheduled in advance to take TWO sick days. (And I’ve been teaching for 14 years).
The fact that we’re getting an incomplete product (as in content is being withheld to be sold as DLC) is ensuring I’m not going to buy this.
Shame on QD and Sony for gouging customers.

That’s had been a trend that been to used by many in the video game industry since like last year. Take for example EA, nuff said on that. This has become a trend that some haven’t got used to it… well I got used to it and sooner or later all of us will, even if you hate it.

Not sure if the demo is coming to PAL regions as well, but I don’t mind. I’ve already pre-ordered mine, so I don’t really like playing a demo of a game I know I’m getting (for fear of spoiling it)…One thing that disappoints me about this game is the action scenes. Why the QTE’s? Why not make it like other third-person games. That makes you more involved your character during these scenes than just pressing buttons!
Dont play the demo everyone! if ur like me and HR is already preordered or bought dont spoil anymore! go in fresh! itll be hard but u can do it! remember how we all felt when we played Indigo Prophecy thats the same feeling u go into this. Dont do it! Fight!

I knew Heavy Rain was going to be special, and have waited for it since I first heard about it ages ago. With the first trailer of that womans face up close, and then the woman acting for the part….I can’t wait to finally get to play this great looking game!
*sigh* Sadly, I think I will import the euro special edition version though. Better cover art, and more content. They also got the better Killzone 2 as well. I’m getting used to importing though…Quest for Booty, SIREN, Killzone 2, Wipeout HD, The Last Guy, and now Heavy Rain. Well, at least you’ll still get your money somehow, right? :)
