  • Boo-urns. How about a Sega like sale Sony. It doesn’t even have to be as spectacular as 40 percent off. 25% is good. even 10% is cool.

  • What?! No Vagrant story? Other than that, awesome update!!!

  • thanks for great improvements in 2009 … i enjoyed this update (as well as many this year, i know not every week holds something for me) and look forward to 2010.

  • Seriously, charging for those “premium” avatars is stupid, I actually don’t care about avatars, but if they are going to be random LBP pics why don’t let we use our own lbp pics then?

also yeah, I demand the Demons Souls dynamic theme, who cares about heavy rain anyway.

they managed to take the thing I most hate in some games nowadays (quick time events) and made a game entirely out of it…

Seriously, give me that DS theme…

  • I don’t get why people are all complaining about the PREMIUM avatars. You knew from the beginning they would be a PREMIUM, meaning you would have to pay.

  • Alright, I’ll make you a deal: I’ll buy Wing Commander IV, and you guys go back and get Wing Commander III up on the store.

Also: when I first went to comment, it said I was logged in as carlosm71. Check your login code, guys, because I have no idea who carlosm71 is, and now I’m wondering if your site is signing other people in as me.

  • Jesus this update blows. U realize they basically try n push stuff for “sale” that doesn’t get bought anyway(not u sega). I mean seriously check the eu update they got a great sale going on n us gets nothing. This is stupid. Here’s an idea sony stop updating until u actually give people the stuff they want. I mean seriously wing commander 4. Who plays that crap. N stop with all the premium theme n avatrs. Take haalf that effort into idk say games maybe. What ever happened to quality over quantity. U guys figure throw enough crap someone will pay for it. Just update once a month but make stuff people actually want like anything requested over 10,000 times right here on ur own blog. The first update next year better be anazing.

  • GIVE US SOME FRIGGON VAGRANT STORY!!!

  • Also sony here’s a great idea for ur premium psn account subscription crap. Every month have premium account holders vote for content they want n guarantee the top 4 items will be in the psn store by the end of the following month I mean maybe if we pay u in advance u will actually listen to what we have to say.

  • Also didn’t we get promised that they would more than double the psone classics catalog by the end of the year when they introduced the pspgo n yet this is the last update of the year. Since then they added what 30 games? That doesn’t add up especially since maybe half those were classics n the rest were just titles that released on the psone but sold crap. Hey sony another thought b4 u re-release a classic make sure it was a classic back then. I even have the criteria. If it want a psone greatest hit not a classic. I know that all the best games sold well but seriously it stop u guys from wasting time with some of the crap u release n expect people to buy. Why waste money developing the digital release if u know no one is gonna pay for it?

  • Holiday dynamic theme for $3? Glad to see your in the giving spirit PSN! sigh…

  • Thank you for the new avatars – I love LBP so this is perfect for me!

  • love the lbp avatars, but i do hope we can get different ones soon(not only lbp ones). I would love some more GOW ones and also some MGS ones would be GREAT as well. If new GOW and MGS avatars are added, consider them bought by many im sure. I know id buy those. Also the price is not too bad, i was expecting like 99c each from u guys, but they are pretty ok price and the bundles are 1.25 i can definitely swing for that.

  • $3 for a theme that I can use for a whole 3 days? LLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.

  • Again about the avatars, take a look at your LBP profile picture, is under save game data, look at that mug shot of your own sack boy, wouldn’t THAT be perfect for a avatar?

NO, clearly we would most certainly prefer some random picks of sack boys wearing festive crap, that’s not even customization, I mean you get what? 10 new avatars? oh wow 10 new ones spread over tens of thousands of users, yeah talk about being unique… you will probably see another 20 people with the same avatar in the next few days…

why the hell don’t let us use our own sack boy picks?? makes no goddamn sense.

  • Sony is getting a little greedy…

  • Wow, people just love to complain about stuff that was previously announced, don’t they?

On the other hand, I’m going to complain that Aksys games didn’t see fit to come on here and hype up Battle Fantasia. It’s a fun little game and definitely worth the $20, as it’s a full release. I could be wrong, but it appears to even have a platinum trophy. Yet, they have done absolutely nothing to let anybody know about it. No appearance here. No demo. Why do that? Don’t they want us to buy it?

I’m enjoying it, but I fear that a lot of people won’t even give it a second look. It’s criminal, honestly.

  • @117 There was a Japanese demo but I do agree. Not much PR for such a fun game.

I also have to agree with others about Vagrant Story. I was, and still am, looking forward to this game.

Wing Commander is fine although seriously there are a lot of fans waiting for the Colony Wars series which personally I thought was a much better game.

or at least get us Star Trek Invasion.

  • There is nothing wrong with charging for avatars, but we have complained for so long. Dont you think we should have at least SOME free avatars.

  • I could handle it if it was similar to the way they handle themes, in that they have free ones released every week, and premium themes.
I dont want to pay for every single new avatar that comes out.

I really hope to see an option for new FREE avatars.

  • Hey I’m a crack in time and the the future tools od destruction controler bundle for christmas and i was wundering if ou could mark down quest for booty so i can conplete the collection.

  • Selling avatars FTL. What is this? Xbox Live?

Anyway, good update otherwise. Sony’s certainly raking in some of my money this week.

  • Cool update.

Please Please bring the Ace Combat games to PSN (the 1,2,3 from the PSone and X for the PSP)

one of my absolute favorite franchises.

  • hey Jeff just so you know, in the store the level pack doesnt actually say there are levels in it in the description (for LBP), it should say that there are levels because.. previous level packs didnt have levels, just stickers n junk.

Anyways, on that note, I was pretty disappointed by these new levels, I thought MM could have done much better. A lot of broken parts to the levels and not very much imagination went into them. I didnt have much fun playing them, the first level was quite good though and there were some fun parts here and there in the other levels, but all in all, I think it wasnt worth waiting a year for, even with the water tools.

Also the last level is a joke.. very bad!

MM I have lately been hating on you for sitting around doing nothing but costumes for the passed year.. I was expecting to really love you guys again after getting the level pack, but cmon. STOP leaving everything to the users! You have to support us more then with just costumes and 1 level pack per year.

  • I’m just trying to better understand what makes the avatar premium? I bought the Little Big Planet Avatar for $.49 and realized that it was actually worst than my original Kratos Avatar. So I just switched back and realized I wasted half a buck for something that is exactly the same. If your going to charge at least make the Avatars fit the *premium status* make them animate or something. Also, I am still trying to figure out what was the point of having the whole Bar over the Avatar if it’s going to remain empty? Can we please fill that up with some trophy & detailed status information please? Thanks

  • Nice update. However I’m bummed by the first set of avatars. I would think there would of been more variety since it took like 3 months or so to get them.

Oh well, I guess my wait continues.

  • damn still no demon’s souls dynamic theme… now that’s a theme i would pay $3 for

  • oh yeeee new avatars finally
    got oneee

  • Pirates of the Caribbean LBP Pack comes out in the US on 12/24/09
It is already out in Europe etc…
    It will be USD$5.99
WATER WILL BE INCLUDED WITH IT!!
I have already played a level with water…
    Water is……….

    EPIC.PERIOD. .

  • Hey guys, i was wondering: wouldn’t it be handy if you’d add a sound effect to text messages (when you receive them), just wondering, i can’t imagine that would be too hard, lol.
    but still: nice update!

  • I don’t see burnout paradise ultimate bundle in my PSN store. anyone else have that problem?

  • Why aren’t the Dynamic Themes available in Europe?

  • $1.99 is too much for a costume. If it was cheaper more users would buy it and your profits would be even better. I suggest the PSN Avatars for the LBP costumes, and by the way, PSN Avatars should be free.

  • @133 … i mean: “I suggest the PSN Avatars PRICE to the LBP Costumes”…

  • :| we gotta pay for a little pics 20 x 20 pixels !!?! how’s that accounted for :S let us user upload our own avatars thanks you very much we can create much better then this stuff for free !!! you guys are trying to suck money out of every little thing now … miss the old sony

  • wow. they finaly get the avatars up there and almost no one cares compared to all the complainers. and now theyve moved on to rant and cry about other stupid things on the psn store. all i have to say, is wow.

  • can you guys put disgeae 2: dark hero days dlc for the psp back on the psn thnx

  • Finally Avatars to buy! As well as other goodies! I’ll try out some more demos, and after Christmas get my self, a nice bundle copy of WipEout HD, and a 500GB HDD for my PS3 so I never run out of space!

Please get some Avatars for the fallowing games up on PSN:

    BF:BC2
    Assassin’s Creed 2
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
    Valkria Chronicles
    Final Fantasy 13
    Star Wars Force Unleashed
Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm (Why this exclusive game never had Avatars is way beyond me!)

Get those up there, as well as some cool ones for Metal gear Solid 4, and God of War 3, and we would be forever in your dept!

  • pretty decent update, nice to see that the avatar pricing isn’t too bad. hopefully with the release of the LBP avatars, you guys will start getting some other ones too like Batman, Ratchet, Bioshock, some new Uncharted & God of War, AC, etc.

  • I picked up the Holiday Dynamic Theme (makes my girlfriend happy to see a Christmasy background) and the Heavy Rain Dynamic Theme (I’m SO stoked for that game, I’d buy pretty much anything for it at this point). I also bought the Sackboy avatar. I was a little disappointed with it. I thought it’d be more than just a picture. I was hoping it’d move or something. Oh, well. I’ve learnt my lesson for next time. I’m going to be buying all the LBP packs, all the Rock Band songs, and the Hasbro Game Night this weekend after Christmas just in case I receive a PSN card for a present. =)

  • Attention Asswipes:

50 cents for an avatar is not a big freaking deal. You’re supporting PSN, retards. Get over yourselves. Bye.

  • Great update guys, finally some avatars. And its a day early for christmas!

  • I do agree with #135 tho, there is no reason why, with a PS Eye, we shouldn’t be able to upload our own avatars. Sony must not have any moderators for “bad” pictures. But still, if you can’t afford 50 cents for a pic you shouldn’t be playing games. I don’t think people realize that their money is going back into Playstation products when they spend it on PSN.

  • I am going to be stocking up on so much SEGA stuff, now I finally have my reason to go back to Sonic ’06.

  • I don’t understand the “premium” angle. What makes these avatars any different from the ones we have had for 3 years now. The ONLY difference is they are new. After 3 years of supporting the PSN, we FINALLY get new avatars, but they are .50 each. I’m sorry, I just can’t support that. I buy a lot of content off of the store, enough to receive a “thank you” email from Sony, but lately I haven’t really bought much because I am tired of your pricing structure. Yes I can afford .50, that is NOT the issue. I could understand charging for something that IS premium, but that is not the case. These are just more of the same, only new. After 3 years, you should have released a set of new avatars for FREE. These are not highly sophisticated works of art here.

  • I find it funny that the 3.0 update allowed for premium avatars. I assumed premium avatars were going to be different, you know, something actually “premium”. It looks like the 3.0 update only allowed you to CHARGE for regular new avatars, because I don’t see anything premium here, except the price.

It looks like I will be rocking the tetris blocks for years to come.

Coming next, premium PSN…it’s just like regular PSN, but you get to pay for it! Line up kiddies.

  • @141 – mafecto

YOU are the retard. It is NOT about the price, it is about precedence. Would you be OK with paying $1? how about $2, $5? After all, you would be supporting the PSN. Hell, why don’t you just make a donation because you are obviously so geeked to support it.

.50 IS a big freaking deal. Get 999,999 more people like yourself and Sony just made $500,000 off of a single thumbnail icon that probably took less than 30mins to put together.

sorry, I have more respect for MY money, even if it is only $.50.

  • Very disappointing how my Minis still don’t work on my PS3. I got Tetris, Pinball Fantasies and the new Bowling 3D and so far none of them work on my PS3.

Don’t promise us Minis support if you can’t make it happen. At least they got it right in Europe :( Me sad…

  • Nice update.

I would really want for Sony to make Premium 3D Animated Avatars. I would definitely buy them such Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds did with Kratos. That would be awesome.

  • Has anyone else noticed that the movie Armored is available for free to download at the playstation store? This movie just came out in the theatres and I found it for free to download. Just go to movies and search for PSP and it will come up.
