Hi everyone, here’s an early peek at PlayStation 3 (PS3) firmware update (v3.10). The latest update incorporates Facebook into the PS3 experience. By linking your PlayStation Network account to your Facebook account, you will have the option for the PS3 to automatically update your Facebook News Feed with Trophy and PlayStation Store activity. This update also enables developers to set specific criteria in their titles to publish additional game information to your News Feed. You can then check out your updates, and those of your friends, on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media favorites through the PS3’s built-in web browser.
This is just the beginning of our integration with Facebook and we are looking forward to adding new features enhancing the experience in future updates.
Additional highlights from update 3.10 include:
- The Photo category on the XMB has been revamped to make it easier to see more of your photos stored on the PS3.
- The PSN Friends List has been modified based on feedback we received after update 3.00. Additionally, you can now choose a color for your PSN ID on the XMB.

I Like how the new Picture Viewer is :D makes it way easier to view pictures.
Also I like to see a Function that I know is there but have been put kinda hidden and needs to be added right in the Menu Stright from the Friend list and added in the Friend List.
When you Hit [Triangle] on one of your Friends there should be a Option at the VERY VERY bottom (Kinda out of the way) that should say Delete Multiple Messages when you want to Delete Multiple Messages from a Single friend you been messaging back and forth for hours and have over 30 to 50 messages and you dont want to go in and singlely delete one by one and take over 5 to 10 Minutes to delete all the ones you want deleted.
I found the only way to do this which is kinda hidden feature is Open up your friends [Profile] click on [Message List] then the Hidden feature Click [Triangle] then [Delete Multiple] then [Select All] then [OK]
Would be Easier to do this stright from the Menu on your Freind by Clicking Triangle when you want to delete messages from a single friend.
Hope Someone Reads this sinces it might be lost in the lots of Most in this Firmware Comment area.
how about a feature “hide” so you can hide icons on the XMB. it shouldn be active on default but if someone wants to clean the xmb because he/she doesnt use, lets say “home” this person would just get rid of that icon.

facebook? Are you serious? I wish you would guys would fix the music playback in PS2 games like Ridge Racer V that are using the wrong frequency and causing the scratchy music playback. Its been driving me nuts for years, and RRV has the best soundtrack of all Ridge Racer games!
And please fix the sound issue with SILENT HILL!! You guys are selling the ROM on PSN and it probably works fine…so fix the PS3 to work on that PSOne original game to fix the sound bug when shooting the handgun.
And I know most people don’t care, but can you PLEASE add CD+G capability to the PS3? I have a few of them still sitting around from the old Sega CD and Turbo Duo days with some good tunes and graphics on them, and I want to see my PS3 be able to play them properly.

This is weak. So now I can show everybody on Facebook when I buy something. Sounds exciting… not. I also never had a problem with the friends list.
Sony needs to work on what’s more important like cross game chat. That’s something I would use.
I don’t care too much for Facebook, but good update. Especially the friends list changes.

If I may offer feedback – the music list/area on the XMB needs a significant revamp like what has been done with Photos. To scroll down through every track/artist/album takes too long and so more thought needs to be put into this area.
How about a search feature for media?
Or the ability to be able to bulk change information for certain artists and albums? Or the ability to download album art and/or album information once the music is already on the HDD?
I recently gave up on having music on my PS3 because of the limitations of organisation for music on the XMB. If this could be looked at in the future it would be fantastic!

Stop wasting everyone’s time Sony, it’s the ONLY feature everyone wants and talks about. Not these useless garbage facebook and Home updates. Not having that fundamental feature is why so many people use Xbox.

-Continually improve web browser functionality i.e. more java support and better video playback support. ( I would love to get rid of cable and use my ps3 to stream hulu and the like through the ps3.)
-Better music player for more dynamic access to music.
-Friends list: would be great to see the last 5 or so games someone has played and the last few trophies they have received from each of those games. When I look at a profile I have no idea what the trophy icons mean or what game they came from unless I already have played the game.
-Auto update game titles in background while ps3 is not in use, or at least some sort of notification that there is an update available. Nothing is worse then booting up a game that you haven’t played in a while to notice that there is a 700MB download that needs to happen. (Steam, would be a good example)

Looks good. I’m liking the progress being made here… much needed tweaks and all. But what about some new Avatars? We’ve been using the same Avatar icons for 3 years! I’ve been wanting new icons especially from beloved games and franchises I really like.
A lot of you people need to stop complaining.
All I ever see is “pointless update” and stuff like that.
Just because YOU aren’t going to use the feature, doesn’t mean other people wont either.
I think these features are a good update, and there are still more features going to be added on as well…
Remember the hidden flash player update we got in one time, maybe this will happen again.
Stop complaining so much, and be thankful that we are getting updates like this very frequently.

first week of cod mw2 release, psn had problems, none of these problems were on xbox live.
almost every multiplatform game looks and runs better on the 360. thats not an opinion, its a fact.

…would be to show basic Trophy information on that currently-bland bar when you select a friend.
At least the Trophy level and percentage, and if your display is set to HD resolution, the the respective ammount of each type of Trophy (there should be space in HD).
This information could stream right after you sign in to PSN, so it would be a background job.
Would be amazing, I believe.
Btw… i’m having problem syncing the trophies =/ can you people fix that? please?

ok facebook is ok but i wasnt really that bothered about it if i wanted to get facebook i go on my iphone or the computer. i know that you know that a rumor had been going round that 3.10 had cross game voice chat and that it haad been confirmed! if theres any chance to release some information that your working on it or that it will come to the ps3 very soon i think it would stop everyone begging for this feature

Please consider adding Twitter and/or MySpace too.
These two sites are very popular and I think having an option to post updates from the PS3 to either of these two other social networks would be really nice for people who don’t use Facebook.
I don’t have anything against Facebook, but prefer not to use my real name online, and Facebook’s terms of service specifically requires people to use their real name.
Anyways, nice update, and also like the update to the pictures and the PSN profiles also.

I think it would be a nice touch to let you display your most prized Trophies on you PSN gamercard thing rather than just your most recent ones.
Its only a small thing but having that really tricky Pixeljunk Monsters Gold trophy gradually replaced by generic bronze ones was kind of disapointing.

Whats up with the real important features? No one needs a wack facebook feature. For what? This is not essential. This is absolutely unimportant. No one needs facebook on a ps3. An if you add it, don’t call it 3.1. Better call it 3.02.
