PlayStation Around the Web: What We Read

132 11

To answer what many of you have asked about in recent months: yes, we are working on a podcast. What we’d like to know now is – how important is the “pod” in the podcast? i.e. Do you actually listen on an iPod via iTunes? Do you download and listen on some other device (like a PSP)? Stream directly from your desktop/laptop? Something else entirely?

We wanna make sure we get the syndication right… if we’re not making it available the way you want to hear it, what’s the point, right?

  • there is nothing better than getting them straight off the psp rss feed, but media go is a good back up.

  • Jeff on comment 37 you you could add Full Moon to the Media Go podcast list…

Any chance you could add Podcast Beyond as well?

Seems kinda of a odd omision considering you’ve been on it a few times.

Anyway will this new podcast be video or strictly audio?.

  • I listen on podcasts on my Android phone it´s the best way to do it

  • any chance we could download the podcast from the PS store? this would be AWESOME. there are already a few songs in the media section so it shouldn’t bee too hard to add the podcasts to the list..right?

  • Anything but iTunes… dropped that junk like three years ago. Oh, and if in doubt, I prefer twice as many episodes half as long. I mean, sometimes when you just wanna hear one special guest and not the talk about what’s coming up in a game you already own, an hour long episode can be a bit frustrating.

  • RSS feed via psp. it works well for audio files. However for videopodcasts, the psp format and resolution limitations don’t always allow to watch them.
I am looking forward to having rss feeds on my ps3.
But you will also need to improve the web browser.
For example for the cbc.ca podcasts it’s very difficult to access the rss feed via the webpage. I would love to use a more up-to-date webbrowser like firefox, opera or google chrome on ps3. It could really improve the ps3 experience for a lot of people who use the ps3 as a media device.

  • I download from the originating site when I am at work since I do not have iTunes but on my laptop at home I use iTunes always.

Make sure if PSBlog is going to have a podcast I can download it from work.

  • I still have no idea what a podcast is???

  • I enjoy video podcasts most of all. I usually watch downloaded to the PS3 or stream through the web browser. Video podcasts are a better value than just audio, as they give more information than just listening and these are what I want most of all. Audio podcasts I don’t even bother with. I like to watch the Epic Battle Cry and Invisible Walls podcasts. Give me something like those and you will have a winner!

  • I use Zune, so I just marked “other”. But I sometimes do just go to the website if I want a little beyond on my PSP :)

  • i use my psp go, hope the pspgo gets more friendly with podcast formats. I download automatically everyday through it but we deffinitly need the ability to read RSS text feeds with it (the psp) too. loving my psp go and keep up the great work Jeff.

  • Jeff,

Will the podcast be in audio or video format?

  • Jeff can you please respond to Kosluffar , i wannna know if the podcast will be in audio or video format , im really hoping your answer is video and i still dont know how to use the RSS feature on my psp go lol

  • PSP!
Please add RSS support for PS3!

  • I try using an RSS Reader for all my news FeedDemon and the RSS reader on my PSP is great. I wish I had it on my PS3 HINT HINT!

  • I think the podcast would do great if it was available from the PlayStation Store! i would download it for sure!

  • rss feed through a program on my computer, then I either listen to it on my PSP while on the bus or use a media server to stream it to my PS3

  • i subscribe with media go

  • Hopefully you guys make it available for download here! If it is Itunes only I wont be listening to it.

  • I subscribe through the Zune software

  • Where’s the answer for “I don’t care about podcasts”?

  • Zune Marketplace for me.

  • I use a nifty little iPhone app called RSSPlayer – it duplicates the iTunes podcast subscription functionality in the iPhone itself, so you can get new podcasts any time without having to keep syncing with your computer. It also removes the 10Mb limit that Apple enforce when you try to manually download an iTunes podcast on the iPhone itself.

So to answer your questions, as long as you provide an RSS feed, I’ll be happy…

  • For myself, I only use my PSP for podcasts and have 5 feeds in my RSS Channels list

  • I use google reader for many podcasts but I enjoy when the MP3 has a direct link so I can put it on any device should I not have net access for what ever reason.

  • You guys should make a playstation blog podcast. I’d subscribe to that.

  • I download it straight to my Iphone.

Now that I have a PSPgo, if it were available on PSN, I would probably just download it straight to my PSP.

  • How come European psn users got the GOW3 E3 demo? what about us US users?

  • I download podcasts to my MP3 player.

Also use TVersity on my PS3 to add the podcast and then I can watch it via the PS3 on my TV.

  • is this a good incentive to add a fastER forward to the ps3? I usually download them to my PS3.

  • I usually only listen to a podcast while I’m on the net. Usually leave one tab of the browser streaming the podcast, and the other tab for surfing the web.

  • As long you make an RSS feed that I can use on my PSP, since it is by far the best Podcasting device in that I don’t need to connect to a computer to manage my subscriptions. BTW Apple has nothing to do with the name “Podcast”; Podcasting has been around since before iTunes.

  • other…i use my zune software for podcasts

  • I subscribe to all of my podcasts via iTunes, download them to my iPhone and then listen to them on my work commute.

  • I prefer to download direct to PSP via RSS so that I don’t end up filling to storage devices (PC and PSP).

My only real gripe is that when playing podcasts on the PSP from RSS feed the newest file is saved at the top instead of oldest at the top. If I want to listen to several podcasts in a row they play newest to oldest. I’d prefer if they were sorted oldest to newest but that option is missing on the PSP XMB.

  • I get them with Media Go and them put them on my psp. I listen to a PlayStation podcast called PS Nation off of vgevo.com. It is a great podcast and I highly recommend it.

  • i prefer stream

  • We need a Playstation Blog Application on iTunes! So many people have an iPod Touch/ iPhone so there sould be a Playstation App!

  • Is this for listening to music while using ps3 (games, Home, Anything else)…

I would like to listen to music and play games!

  • I use podcast.com, and just download the mp3 so I can play it on my computer at work or ps3 in the background. Oh Oh I would love to some podcast store, free, on psn. Do it please.

Thanks for all the hard work guys.

  • PSP RSS feed ability.
