I’m Gordon Van Dyke and I’m the Associate Producer for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 here at EA’s DICE studio in Stockholm.
Today we’re excited to announce that our forthcoming multiplayer beta is coming exclusively to PS3, so you’ll have a chance to experience all the action, destruction and vehicular warfare ahead of our full release in March 2010.
Starting on November 19, the beta will feature the huge ‘Arica Harbour’ map where up to 24 players compete to secure valuable crates in the ‘Rush’ game mode as the action moves across a variety of different locations. From an initial vehicle assault on a military outpost the war winds through streets of a deserted town to an intense final fire-fight in an industrial harbour.

Getting access to the beta will differ from country to country, but here are a few specific ways of getting hold of a key:
- We’ll be holding a special limited giveaway right here on the PlayStation Blog (details TBA)
- Pre-ordering the game at participating retailer
- Checking out selected gaming sites such as IGN or GameSpot in North America.

I am glad I already pre-ordered this weeks ago. I am getting the limited edition and beta… I am more excited about this game than any others that are coming out. Well maybe GOW3.. I will be playing MW2 until the 19th. Bad Company is just so much better. Run and gun is fun for a while but I like options… I’m in a tank mutha fu**er

I’m in Canada ( Quebec ). I’m I gonna be able to even get the Beta?
The GoW3 isn’t as exciting.. both gamestop and IGN members that pay that sites for privileges(paid memberships) will get keys on the 10th and that is of what i’ve heard..
I still hope that they will give away keys the normal way and not give them to only “privileged” members..

Anyway: Thanks DICE. I pre-ordered the game a day or two ago when the limited edition was announced as the same price as the regular edition and I jumped right on it. And because of that, I managed to grab the beta code before you announced it(well I got the email the same day you announced it).

One question though: I know i’m on a playstation blog site but any particular reason why the beta isn’t on the 360 as well?
I’m no fanboy but It just seems odd for a multiplatform game and a shooter to have an exclusive beta on one platform.
Either way, I can’t wait for Bad Company 2. I ripped BFBC 1 demo to shreds, then BFBC1 as well. I still haven’t been able to get the platinum PSN trophy and that’s really saddening me. :(

After playing Bad Company more than a year, I am really excited about about Bad Company 2.

Awesome! One question about pre-ordering to get a beta key. Do you have to place your pre-order from Nov 5 and onward or is the beta key elgible for pre-orders that were placed before Nov 5? Thanks.

You know, I’m upset with you [game developers]. You are supposed to have us buy your games and enjoy them. But with so many great games coming out, how am I supposed to save money to buy the other good ones coming out? I mean, I have already gone without eating for most of the year!

Just look it up on the Official Playstation Forums, or even YouTube. A lot of the original 60GB PS3’s are getting the YLOD because the solder in them is of poor quality.
Also, yes, this game IS multiplatform, but there is nothing wrong with the beta being exclusive to PSN, because the Modern Warfare beta was exclusive to XBOX Live. Sony probably, you know… listened to gamers by securing content for their platform?
Hi, i was a fan of bfbc the first and like almost 1 year now i wait for the second. And now you annonce a beta, you guy are amazing ! And to put a cherry on the top of the cake you annonce it exclusive to ps3 its like omg ! Just one question : do we need to preorder it after the 10, because im living in montreal and i call both ebgames (gamestop) and best buy and i get 2 negative answer(we are the 6 ) so please i want to know, i will die if i dont get a code ( joke ) but i sooooo want it :) Keep up the good work DICE youre the best!

by the way what was this news message displayed on battlefield 1943? i’ve skipped it without reading because i thought it was about the PSN online agreement, but i’ve noticed the BFBC2 beta rolling message on the online menu, so what was this message about? :|

I just preordered the LE at Amazon. I can get into the beta because I’m an insider at IGN, so…
Uh, regarding the release date though… Amazon has it listed as 01/28/10? Did it get quietly pushed up? Because that would be freaking awesome. The BF series has always held a special place in my heart,because BF2 was the first time I had a PC good enough to run a 3D FPS, and I’ve stuck with you guys ever since.
But really, any words on the release date? Some people even got emails from Amazon saying the date changed.
Awesome I went to the Eurogamer Expo in London and I went to go give this game a go but unfortunately the que for it was HUGE !! I was never able to play it :(. So this is great news because hopefully I am fortunate enough to get a beta key.
I loved BF:BC and BF1943 so this is going to be even better. Also I would like to give a big well done to the developers of both the trailers. I thought they were AMAZING!!. i seriously thought they were both trailers of the Single Player Campaign.

Awesome. I can’t wait for this game. Unlike Modern Warfare 2, this will be a day one purchase for me.
I loved Bad Company, as it had a pretty damn good multiplayer, which I dabble in, but an awesome, light hearted, single player, which I play more of and Infinity Ward only seems to deliver on one of these two aspects of a FPS, unlike DICE.
I just hope I can get in on this beta.
