Hello everyone!

It’s been a while! I hope you guys are all doing well. Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days for PSP has been shipped to retail stores nationwide today, September 8th!

Disgaea 2 Boz

Even if you’ve already played Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories on PlayStation 2, this PSP version of Disgaea 2 will still entertain you and give you plenty of sleepless nights, especially with the additional Axel chapters and lots of new systems we’ve added!

In Disgaea 3, NIS created a new system called Magichange, which gives monster-type ally characters the ability to change into a weapon. This Magichange is now available in Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days! What’s cool about this system is that you will gain different Magichange skills depending on the type of monster, and all of them will help you inflict massive amounts of damage!

Disgaea 2: DHD won’t stop there; it also has a system lovingly dubbed “Magichange 2”! You simply place a monster-type character next to a Magichanged human-type character, and then execute the Magichange command again. Now you got “Magichange 2”! So easy, right? Magichange 2 has several advantages. One of them is that all characters involved in the Magichange 2 form get 100% of the EXP and MANA gained through defeated enemies. I hope you guys will find it much more pleasing to use this system, as opposed to defeating an enemy with a normal weapon!

In the main story, you will be able to use all these newly added systems, but if those aren’t enough to satisfy your Disgaea cravings, no worries! Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days has you covered! Axel is back as a main character in some all-new chapters.

Disgaea 2 Axel & Brothers

Axel used to be a popular star and everybody loved him. But something happened and his popularity dropped to nothing. He’s ready to do anything to reclaim his esteem and legions of adoring fans. He has to support his big family, after all. Axel stumbles upon an opportunity to take part in a superhero show that is very popular among kids. He believed this would help him become a star again, but… well, you’ll have to find out what his destiny holds for him yourself.

I also want to let you know that NIS America will release our past PSP titles, such as Prinny, Disgaea, Blade Dancer, and more, on PSN in the coming weeks. They will be available between $4.99 and $12.99 during the sales week (October 1st to 7th.) They are all 50% off, so don’t miss this chance to get them if you haven’t gotten these titles yet!

Lastly, NIS America has finally joined Twitter! We are updating news, preview/review articles, and more on our Twitter, so don’t forget to follow us if you have your Twitter account!

Thank you for reading my post as always!

Have a great day!

P.S. If you haven’t had a chance to see our Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days trailer, here you go!

P.P.S. There are a lot more newly added systems than just what I have mentioned here. Please visit the official Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days website for more detailed information!

Best,

Nao

  • I bought Disgaea for PS2 and again for PSP for the extra content, but I’m all about digital content as well, so if SCEA goes through with a UMD to Digital exchange program, what am I to do with the redundancy of my collection should I buy it a third time now when the sale goes online next month?

I really want a PSP Go, too, so a portable, UMD-less Disgaea is something I definitely want :(

  • omg SQUEEEE @ nao’s response to #5

Just wanted to pop in and give a big thanks to NIS for disgaea. I recently got the 3rd(waited for trophy patch) but have been a fan since the first. I probably won’t be getting D2 since i’ll be power leveling in D3 for ages to come but this news of something new has definitely caught my interest!

  • yea disgaea love the series even though the disgaea 3 trophy patch was a let down…yes loved trophys but they lowered the dupe rate….u try to get 19,787 innocent so u can mutiple times lol……still love the series though

  • I wanted this game today!!! :(

I called gamestop 3 times this morning to make sure it didn’t magically arive by mistake in their shipment. I never played D2 but I own D1 on PSP and D3 on PS3, all the D2 videos make this game look incredible. I can’t wait to buy this tomorrow. I will be skipping my lunch hour at work to buy and play this early. Can’t wait.

    • Hello midnightshade,
Haha, thank you so much for your Disgaea love! I hope you got the copy, and lunch too! :p

      Thanks,
      nao

  • sweet. since I’m getting a PSP Go, i was hoping to see “Prinny Can I Really be the Hero?”

awesome. i will definently pick this up.

Hope to see more games from other publishers bring their goods to the PSN.

    woot.

  • Release things for PS3. PSN is damn near wrothless to PS3 users anymore. Everything anyone does is for PSP.

I didn’t buy a nice TV to play my games on the screen the size of my palm.

Finally release a greatest hits version of D3 with all the DLC included. Or just reprint the damn game for starters.

  • As long as I’m still able to get the old NIS PSP games on disc, I’ll be happy.

  • Good thing that I already have a PSP, but I want to know is Etna in this game?!

I really liked her & Prinny in Cross Edge. :)

Thanks for the news Nao. :D

  • @Nao

Love when you come to the blog!

Please let the powers that be know that more RPGs are needed on the PS3. Porting these and other games in your catalogue over as PSN games is also acceptable. A high-res scan plus 16:9 of Disgaea 1 & 2 with trophies slapped on, as well as other gems done this way, would be very welcome. Thanks Nao!

    • Hello LokeSTL,
Hey ya! Thanks! I didn\’t think I was away that long, but I guess it\’d been a month or so!
More RPG on the PS3, gotcha! ;)

      Thanks,
      nao

  • The ever elusive trophy patch for Disgaea 3?

  • Why isn’t the game in stores yet? please don’t tell me it’s delayed, i’ve been waiting for this game for a month and they’re going to make me wait more? this is torture D:

    • Hello japan_gator,
Disgaea 2 was shipped to retailers on 9/8, so some stores might take a couple of days to receive the copies. I hope you could get the copy by now!

      Thanks,
      nao

  • Just checked out Gamestop. This game is $35.

  • On PS2 I have

    Disgaea Hour of Darkness
    La Pucelle Tactics
    Phantom Brave
    Makai Kingdoms
    Soul Nomad

    On PS1 I have

    Rhapsody

    On PS3 I have

Disgaea 3 AND the platinum for it + all DLC

    On PSP I have

    Disgaea Afternoon of darkness

So if you could please answer this 1 question I would be so happy. When is the U.S. receiving the Disgaea Home Spaces?

    • Hello MakaiOokami,
Thank you so much for your support! That is a huge love:)

We are working on Home, but I don\’t have the launch date just yet. I will make sure to let you all know about it though!

      Thanks,
      nao

  • play this on the ps2 and it was great so im definately getting this for the psp

  • YES!! I just got the game today, 5 hours in to it so far..and loving every second. I am a big turn-based strategy and rpg fanatic this game melds both genres in perfectly. Mixed with a great story and humor, with the best looking sprites around… To the people who complain about sprites, you really need to give these games a shot. 3d models would not work as well in these types of games and they would loose a lot of their charm. There were games that I couldn’t stand the transistion to 3d…. Being a 30 year old gamer I love sprite grpahics, and the way Disgaea series does it is on a 3d board.

One thing I noticed about Disgaea 2 in particular about the visuals is the spell/attack effects. Every particle and effect and screen effect in and out of battle is using very sharp lighting and pixels, you can tell they are done using a new 3d engine, compared to the first disgaea on psp. The game feels really polished and that a lot of time and effort was put into it. This series has so much depth.

If you love rpgs and want something that will give you months of content, then this game is for you. This game will consume your life!! in a good way of course! :)

  • Thanks a lot Nao! Though I’m still playing D3, I’ll be sure to pick this up!
On a side note, I was just wondering if NISA had any plans for Anime Expo 2010?

    • Hello Odama,
Yes! We will be at Anime Expo 2010! We don\’t have any specific plan for it just yet, but I am sure we will have a panel or some sort!
      See you there:)

      Thanks,
      nao
