Hello from Naughty Dog! All of us here are working feverishly to apply the final polish to Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. I think I can speak for the whole team and say we’ve never been more proud of anything that has come out of this studio. One word we throw around here quite a bit is ‘epic’. We use (and abuse) the term every single day at Naughty Dog, but I think with good reason. From the lighting to the backgrounds, the animation to the score, the characters, the story, the gameplay, it all feels ‘epic’ to me every chance I get to play.
It was an easy task, then, when it came time to make our latest trailer for Gamescom this week. I just wanted it to feel epic.
One thing you all should know about the way we make trailers is there really isn’t much TO know. We think the best way to show off our games is to do just that, show the game. The footage in the trailer is generated directly from the Naughty Dog 2.0 engine. The only difference between what you see here and what you’ll get a chance to play on October 13th is the speed at which we set the game to run at the time of capture.
I hope you all enjoy the trailer and I look forward to seeing you online when our open multiplayer beta launches September 15th.

I preordered at gamestop, just got home tonight and its telling me my code is invalid. Gamestop has the exclusive multi player demo available as of today (8/19/2009-9/18/2009) has that date changed?
ON TOPIC: ”Epic” doesn’t quite do it. Maybe ”uber-epic”?
OFF TOPIC: To all the people whining about BC… Have you stopped to consider that for the price of one of the original launch units with built-in hardware BC, you could go out right now and get yourself a PS3 (with considerably more drive space than either of the original units) and a PS2, *and* still have $100/$200 left over? What more do you want?

Also, I’m sorry that this is off-topic, but can someone please try to figure out what is messed up with the embedded video player in FF 3.5.2? I’ve tried it on both Vista and Vista 64-bit and it is difficult to get the video to play because the app keeps resetting whenever I mouseoff it. it doesn’t do this in either Chrome or IE or even on any other sites that embed the videos posted here, so I’m not sure exactly what is causing this to happen. thanks
Jeff, as far as the video cutting out, I’ve tried it on Firefox 3 on botch Windows XP and on a MAc OS X. When you rollover, the video disappears, then reappears, as if it resets. Then if you click play, it will play for a second and reset again. It didn’t always do this, but I don’t remember when it started happening.
I’m like the 5th person that’s mentioned this, but my pre-order voucher says 8/19 is when we can download and start playing the multiplayer demo. What the hell happened? I’ve been working all day long. Twelve hours or so, and ALL I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT IS PLAYING THIS DEMO!!!!!!! AHHHH NEED MY FIX!!!!

I have the 60 gig and twice i use my ps3 for ps2 games . That was to play god of war and the buzz series . Its a nice edition to have but really fellas its time to move on . Who wants to play ps2 games on a ps3 on HDTV . Who wants to play ps2 games when there’s uncharted 2 coming out , god of war 3 etc……….
I’m on media blackout for Uncharted 2…. just giving you guys my moral support :)
And I will watch all the post-E3 trailers once I’ve beat the game

I thought I was the only one that had problems with the video resetting as soon as the cursor was off the video window.
I’m running on Firefox 3.5/Windows 7 btw. It happens with Firefox 3.5/Mac OSX as well.
The fix to the resetting video is to disable the adblock plus plug-in for blog.us.playstation.com. i tired it. running xp and vista with firefox 3.5. it worked.
I don’t know about the “rollover” bug for movies but it seems like for some reason the video loads and the play bar shows the movie being a lot longer then it really is. I’m on the latest version of Firefox. Hope i’m explaining it correctly.
Can’t wait for this game everyone with a head-set add me for multi player.

my questions off topic but when is Crash Team Racing goina be put on the Canada and US ps store.. i have an original copy but i’d prefer it downloaded like i have crash bandicoot 2 and since u guys r close with insomniac.. dis u guys use the resistance 2 water tech in this game because that would jus make it more appealing and amazing?

Yeah I get the glitchy video thing as well, it resets every time you hover over it, quite annoying actually.

Ok, I can confirm it was the Adblock Plus add-on that did the video glitch. Just click on the icon and click on Disable on blog.us.playstation.com. Thanks to wyvern for the tip.

I already mentioned it on the FB page and to Christophe, I’m not going to watch any trailers any longer of this game, until the disc slides into my precious PS3, I hit start on my controller and the screen turns into another magical, big Uncharted adventure :-)

One quick question: for the video to run so smoothly on slow motion, the game must be over 60 FPS, right? I ask cause I’ve only seen slo-mo THAT smooth on high-end PCs running at 120 FPS.
Hi. We have tech here at NDI which allows us to run the game at different frame rates than it does normally. To make this trailer, I had the running at several different speeds, between 30fps and 100fps.
