Countdown has begun…less than two months to go!
Hayashi from Team NINJA here. The last few weeks since our last post have been extremely busy for our team, putting the final touches on the game. This is our first attempt in releasing our game simultaneously in all three regions, but we’re confident we can make it happen.
We’re excited to see the response and feedback to the all-new Team Missions mode (and everything else we’ve shared so far), and today I’d like to introduce two additional, new features of the game.
The first reveal is Chapter Challenge Mode. The mode will become available once you clear Story Mode – you can go back to your favorite chapter and replay to compete with fellow ninjas around the world for the highest Karma score. After clearing the chapter, you will be ranked based on your total Karma score. The highest rank – of course – is “MASTER NINJA” and the lowest is “NINJA DOG”. You also have the option to review your gameplay in Ninja Cinema (which is also available in Team Missions) and share your videos online and download videos of other players. Online rankings are sorted by chapter and difficulty level. It’s entirely up to you whether you want to rank in all difficulty levels or master a certain chapter…just be ready for the challenge!
The second reveal is Ninja Records. In order to keep up with how well (or bad…) you’re performing, we figured it would be nice to have a place where you can view your complete stats from fastest mission time, number of enemies defeated, numbers of Izuna drops, maximum combos, rescues, character usage rate in Team Missions mode, number of playthroughs…and more. Ninja Records will keep track of your moves performed in both Story Mode and Team Missions. You’ll be able to pull it up anytime from the title menu screen, so use it to learn more about your own play style. The best part of this is that you can also share your stats online!
Another piece of good news – that’s not directly related to the game but still exciting – is we’ll be adding an official soundtrack, packed with over 30 tracks, to our Collector’s Edition! That’s in addition to the 80-page exclusive book that features a prologue comic, mini-strategy guide and art gallery. Check this out:
BTW, have you seen our Japanese viral ads? I’d like to take a vote and see which one gets more attention…
Last but not least…the GameStop exclusive pre-order costume looks like this:
More to come in the next post!
“Team missions is only 1 player + AI (offline) or 1 player + 1 player (online). Being able to replay the chapters in Chapter Challenge mode is almost the same as a non co-op mission mode, right?”
Not really, in my opinion. While I’m happy the option to replay chapters was included the thing I enjoyed the most about the original Sigma was the mission mode it offered.
I’m actually surprised that a non co-op mission mode similar to NGS isn’t included, wasn’t this supposed to be the definitive NG experience?
While I’m not a fan of DLC because I feel it’s a reason for game developers to withold certain aspects of a product just to charge for it later, I really hope you guys are considering releasing a mission mode similar to NGS in the future on PSN.
look like we who have played NG2 and beat everything out of it will get to suffer NGS2 difficulties again.
i just hope its not cheap like NG2 cause NG2 MNM was just damn cheap bad design.
I hope it’s just as difficult and challenging as Ninja Gaiden II. It would be very disappointing if it’s easier than that.
Ninja Gaiden games have always been very challenging. That’s why I love this series. Challenge and difficulty are good for replay value.
@Blackxino
If it is true then good. But even with all the weapons brought over to a new difficulty won’t make it any easier. People thought they can pwn Pro difficulty on RE5 only to realise that all enemies do a one-hit death!
NGS actually disappointed me when all my hard earned items are removed for the next game.
@ 154
I agree master ninja in NG2 is terrible. If you can use your weapons leveled up on the next difficulty though, and all the weapons you have from the very beginning, the difficulty will be removed to some extent.
Also knowing Hayashi’s team they will add more save points so it won’t be as far to go to heal yourself.
Are the Rachel/Ayane/Momiji chapters integrated in to the main story mode or are they seperate (optional)?
Note: forgot to add other statements
@Blackxino
If it is true then good. But even with all the weapons brought over to a new difficulty won’t make it any easier. People thought they can pwn Pro difficulty on RE5 if all their guns are infinite ammo only to realise that all enemies do a one-hit death!
NGS actually disappointed me when all my hard earned items are removed for the next game.
The last NGS enable players to switch between Japanese and English voices; will NGS2 be the same as well?
Jayson619, of course man, NG2 allowed you to do that, so this will be the same.
English voices for this game are awesome!
Trust me, if you get all the weapon carry over for Master Ninja all starting at lvl 1, it’ll ease the difficulty down.
But this game looks hard man, Team Mission, warrior mode, defeat Elizabet. That feels like a Mentor difficulty O_o
@Blackxino
And apologies to Hayashi-sama for my repeated questions. I waited for an answer for some time but didn’t notice it until now…
Hayashi, the testers for Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1, did they beat the Zarkhan Stadium fiend challenge with 120 Hell Knightmares/Berserkers in Master Ninja?
Because this part is driving me to insanity!
120 Berserkers in Master Ninja, all attacking at once and casting their hell fire pits, shooting the urobo fireballs and speed dashing at me.
O_O

@88
No, check your source The first 3 Ninja Gaidens had no blood.”
That’s not entirely true. In Ninja Gaiden 2: Dark Sword of Chaos, one of the cutscenes there was blood.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HFxQfagZws
A few scenes back showed Robert bleeding from his mouth.
Not trying to argue for blood, just saying you are incorrect about the first 3 Ninja Ryukenden not having blood.
There was also blood in the second NES NG game after Ryu kills Jaquio. The blood touches the sword and revives him. That’s when Jaquio was transformed into the Demon.
Also in the first NG game for NES, Dr. Smith is bleeding from the chest when Ryu goes back and finds him dying. Act 3.
To Hayashi-san and all team ninja designers.
I really appreciate the censorship in ninja gaiden sigma 2. Here in the UK violent games are always being threatened and abused by people who always jump to the wrong conclusion. Children are influenced etc.
I never thought much of the amount of blood which popped out but I enjoyed the Obliteration technique. Thank you for taking your job as designers seriously. :)
This can probably be enjoyed in Germany now, the UKs biggest market, and it makes people here who were sensitive about it forget it.
@Primeval_Demon
Censored but Hayashi-sama, BUT PLS NOT TOO CENSORED like the first NGS back in 2007.
Heads are still intact for Asian version of NGS unlike the US version. If the sword is to cut off the head then off with the bugger’s head! Decapitations aren’t just for bad demons only you know. They are also for those bad ninjas from the Black Spider Clan too!
@ 167
LOL! Yeah I remember chopping some shuriken muppets heads off. Ryu did a nice backstab and then chopped the ninjas head off. :P
There is stil blood but just not as much. I am ok with a bit of blood. I think its a shame people are missing out because it lacks 80% of the blood. Especially when the 360 version itself was filled with cheap trials and glitches which some claimed made it unplayable.
The latest patch still didn’t fix it properly. Chapter 11 on the bridge brings a crash.
will we be able to use the PS3’s Dualshock motion sensor, when we cast a ninpon?
@168
There is no crash on my NGII game in any Chapter. There’s a just lot of hate and resentment for the 360 version.
It had its issues like every game does nowadays, but they were nowhere near as outrageously blown out of proportion the way people on the internet claim. I even play the game unpatched.
@ 170
Know what annoys me? People who talk about the “versions” as if they are in competition.
Shortly after you beat ninjas where you get the rod of trials two arrow guys shoot at you. Kill them and their crew. Next save your game. This is where it happens.
Go back to the main menu or turn the console off and the game will load fine. But kick the door in after saving and not only will there be no enemies loaded but a few steps onto the bridge and CCCCRRRRRRAAAAASSSSSHHHHH.
I still get this problem and I am waiting for it to be patched up but considering they are busy with sigma 2 I don’t see it happening.
So no Not ALL points ae crash free.
I was wondering, where else can i get the collector editon of the game beside from gamestop. Does Amazon offers the Collector editon too?
The Collector\’s Edition is only available from GameStop in the US.
