PlayStation Around the Web: What We Read

61 7

Some nice milestones this Father’s Day for some Friends of the Blog (TM)…

Congratulations to Joystiq, now running for 5 years! I knew we linked to the ‘stiq a lot (just see below), but now I think I know why that is: they posted 11,000 stories last year. Damn!

Also congratulations to Xbox Live Community Manager TriXie, who welcomed an addition to the family this week. The baby already has a Twitter account, which is either madness or genius. Either way, I’m totally copying that for my progeny. Note: I’ll be participating in a PAX Panel with TriXie and others (Steven from Platform Nation, for one) this September.

OK, enjoy your Father’s Day, whether you’re a father, a son/daughter, or both.

    …Please?

  • @Jeff comment 43

    lmao. owned. >.>

  • Any news on a new firmware for ps3 jeff, y’know, such as xmb and psn log in during movies, blu rays and ps2 games?

  • You can’t be both a father and a daughter, just saying.

  • things seem to be moving in baby steps with Sony. after 3 freakin years i think they finally got the milking process of HOME and PSN right. when will we be getting everything we’ve been asking for, we have been very patient, 3 years patient, we all want new features that match or surpass xbox live, can you please fill us in on where you are at on certain features? there is no need to keep all this secret, the competition is way ahead of you. and Jeff i find you a tad arrogant and why isn’t your desk cleared out by now, we don’t need to be sucking up to you, you should be sucking up to us, we need someone more personable and that is willing to answer all of our questions working at the playstation blog, like me for instance ;)

  • “You mean like Warhawk, SOCOM Confrontation, or Burnout Paradise?”

No, I meant like the 30 or so mainly 3rd party titles coming to XBox Live in August. Sony have released about 5 full games since Nov. 2006.

  • @Jeff: “You mean like Warhawk, SOCOM Confrontation, or Burnout Paradise?”

Also Gran Turismo 5: Prologue for PS3, plus ALL of the PSP Digital Releases, PSOne Classics, etc. I’m really not sure what #43 was asking for…

  • The PAX panel sounds awesome Jeff. Hopefully another PAX meetup, since it appears you will be attending.

There was a community involvement Panel last year had the destructoid people on and a few other bloggers. It was a great panel.

  • Listen to us!…we dont want stupid little features that u guys think are cool….because i have news for u, they aren’t. Why not listen to us and give us the things we want like cross game chat. Is it so hard just to even let us no that you are working on cross game chat or parties or SOMETHING. Beleive me i love sony…but more and more especially with all this microsoft crap i feel like you guys are rlly falling behind. Activision is even thinking of dropping you guys cuz you are of no use to them. Idk about anyone else but im gonna be pretty pissed if guitar heros stop coming to sony’s platforms. Plz just start giving us info about things we want. Last summer u gave us trophies and we f****** loved it! so give us something to f****** love this summer too, give us cross game chat at least and some sort of xmb party system or somthing like that! Plz, Sony, you guys are so much better than microsoft….just dont be afraid to make big dicisions as long as they help your clientel: the gamers.

  • So any of you guys working on the Blog read about Activision’s Kotick threatening to stop supporting Sony? how odd…..

  • No mention of the biggest news of last week? Activion saying that they are going to drop their support. Clearly, the PS3 is going the way of the dreamcast.

  • @StalkingSilence, like I said 5 full games for PS3 since 2006. We’re not talking PSP or PS1. MS are extending their Originals series to current gen full downloadable titles like Assassin’s Creed and Bioshock. 30 titles to begin with, a much better proposition then what Sony are offering both for consumers and publishers. Is it any wonder the PS3 is selling worst and publishers are talking about ditching the platform?

  • @Kenshin…let’s see how many Xbox owners can take advantage of buying “full current gen downloadable games” with most of them with 20GB and 60GB…or you think we’ll see a sudden rise in sales of their eternally ridiculously priced 120GB HDD?? I wouldn’t count on it. It’s nice to have some games inside your HDD, and I know with the PS3 the sky is the limit, but seriously how many 9GB+ games are you willing to cram inside your HDD (considering you own a 160GB HDD offered by Sony or larger after upgrade)? You may think MS has something going on, but they’ve got squat. The shot themselves in the foot the moment they went with those xbox-brand HDDs.

  • The vast majority of multiplat games are not over 9GB. Anyway, consumers either want the service or not. It will be available on the Xbox 360, it won’t be available on PS3. Sony have squandered the opportunity.

  • 3 years no BC, no in game music, no party system, no private party voice chat, no cross game private voice chat. It’s not about what you want for the PS3 it’s about what we want! You have crushed any hope of a PS3 rebound or a PS4 launch. The people who post the truth here are but a drop in the ocean of gamers who have or will swear off the “we don’t care what you want” station. In my best guess you have one more shot at getting it right in the next firware update. Like millions of others I will not hold my breath that you have learned from your HUGE mistakes, or that you even care.

  • Im with Sum1_BetterZenU man….u guys gotta listen to us and get ur act together. period.

  • Wow man, fascist regime here.

  • any news on fallout 3 update and dlc release?
