Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman!

Hello everyone, my name is Nao Zook from NIS America. Today, we are very excited to announce our upcoming PSP title!

It’s called “Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! What Did I Do To Deserve This?” Now, I know the title is super long. In fact, it just might be the longest, and craziest, title in videogame history! But actually, we at NISA are pretty happy with this name.

So anyway, you must be wondering what this game is all about.

Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman!

“Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman!” is a strategy game with an RPG feel to it. You play as the God of Destruction, and you must save Badman, the underground overlord from various heroes. Badman is helpless and whiny, but once in a while he finds the cajones to question your actions. Sounds like Badman is a real pain in the butt, huh? But he’s also got some hilarious lines, so we’re sure you’ll have fun with him.

Now, in the actual game you appear as a pickaxe. Okay, we know, it’s just a pickaxe. But you’re the friggin’ God of Destruction! It’s your duty to crush all these pesky heroes invading YOUR underground turf! In order to defeat them, you just dig and dig and dig…this is how you produce the monsters and demons that will serve and fight for you. They have their own Demon Ecosystem, so as they eat each other they will grow and reproduce. The key to this ecosystem is keeping things balanced. Once the balance in the ecosystem breaks, you will lose a great amount of your fighting force to use against the heroes. So you have to pay attention to what happens to your demon army.

Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman!

This game is very simple, but still offers plenty of depth. (Literally! You have to dig pretty deep to save Badman’s empire!)

“Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman!” boasts a retro-style visual flair that matches its throwback game style perfectly. And we think lots of people will be attracted to Badman, and won’t be able to stop themselves from spending many sleepless nights with him!

Finally, we are planning to release a demo version of the game on PSN soon, so keep your eyes open!

Here is the tentative package art and a few screenshots from “Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman!”

Santa Ana, CA (Apr 7, 2009) – NIS America announced today that the retro classic themed strategy game “Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman: What Did I Do to Deserve This?” will be arriving in North America in July 2009.

As a critically acclaimed strategy game in Japan, Badmanwill make its presence felt in the west this summer. From its retro-classic art style to its simple, yet intuitive game play, Badmanis the anti-trend of games today. However, for players looking for a refreshingly new game experience, Badmanoffers more than plenty.

About Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman!

The goal of the game is clean and simple: As the God of Destruction, you must create a dungeon that is difficult and powerful enough to fend off human hero invasions. The dungeon must have a self-sustaining ecosystem, so players must strategically dig and create a dungeon with a balanced food chain. Periodically, human heroes will invade the dungeon in order to bring peace and harmony to the world, but they are your enemies. You must destroy the heroes before they capture the Overlord and take him back to the surface.

  • Thanks NIS America you make some of the best games keep them coming!

    • Hello ShadowTalyis,
      Thank you so much!
We\’ll have more exciting games this year, so please look forward to them!

  • Looks pretty good. Shame I never bought a Psp though.

  • yea looks good but i dont have a psp

  • you had me @ Holy!!! pure genius? i’d certainly like to think so. can’t wait for this to hit shelves. which leads to my question… will this be downloadable via the PSN?

    • Hello LakaiHIGH,
The retail version won\’t be downloadable via the PSN, but the demo version will be! I hope you will try it out and like it! :-)

  • I need a better PSP!! Some one give me one

  • not bad, but damn! that title is crazy! equally as crazy as Super Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle Cars.

  • Best title ever created for a video game.

  • agreed!!

  • I bow before Nippon Ichi.

  • @7 – ditto

  • I lol’d when I read that title last week. I tried the demo from the JP store, it’s actually not that bad. I don’t……understand how to play it — but it seems fun.

  • lol

Great name I always wondered if someone brought Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaiki da over to America what they would name it.

  • Awesome news didn’t think this would ever come to the US thanks to SCEA’s incompetence. It would be awesome if Dark Mist and the awesome expansion were also brought over by NISA or another publisher.

  • This looks awesome! Release it on PSN, please. I’m not getting a PSP until the rumored PSP2 comes out, and only then if it has dual analogs. But, whatever…

  • I think “Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People” and “Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness” are also pretty crazy, elaborate names in their own respect.

  • Great name. :p

  • I am buying this game just because of the title. hahaha….That just too funny to pass up.

  • Awesome name like the best name ever.

Also great job NISAmerica for picking up this title it should be a great game.

I really hope this sells well because the name alone is awesome and needs to sell the game. Plus if it sells well may be there will be many more new PSP games from NIS America be a crazy wacky game or a whole new IP.

Again sweet news. Also any news on when Disgaea 2 will come out in the US on PSP?

  • It’s about damn time. But god that title is silly. It’s some good news after hearing that there might be a Shadow of the Colossus movie :/.

  • I can’t thank you guys (and gals) enough for bringing this over. This was one of those games that I thought would remain Japan only.

  • Sorry to post again so soon, but being that you are from NIS America could you possibly comment on the Disgaea 3 trophy patch?

    • Hi tearsofash,

We\’re currently working on it. We\’re not sure when it will be available, but hopefully in the near future!

  • LOL Sounds interesting!

  • lol, this is that game that was copyrighted not long ago. I’ll need to see some gameplay so I can fully understand the concept.

  • I’m sold on this game by the name alone, ever since I heard that Sony had filed a trademark for the name I was hooked LOL. Now that I know a little more about it I can’t wait to try it out.

  • A Teen rating? Why?

  • Whether its Disgaea or this, you guys come up with the craziest things I swear. While its on psp, not something I usually support, Ill definitely keep an eye on this title. Can’t wait to see what you guys have planned for the PS3 next either, keep up the good work and thank you for all of your hard work (and insanity) :)

  • Digital release along with UMD? UMD drive is dead so need digital games.

  • whoo! Can’t wait to finally play this game!

I always wondered how the game would be localized to the States, and I think this is a GREAT way to do it!

    Can’t wait for July!

  • thank you for an original PSP only (no ps2 port) title

  • Thank you for bringing this over. It seemed like Sony wasn’t going to release it here, but you can always count on NIS to work hard in bringing over obscure games.

  • wow psp is really getting alot of games and support this year!

  • Does that package screenshot mean it’s coming out on UMD?

    Please say yes!

  • Awesomeness! I must have this game! Thanks you!

  • I’m don’t play any strategy or RPG games, so I don’t think I’ll be playing this game. But, I’m rating this post a 5 just because the name is hilarious.

  • I will buy this.

  • Is this the first Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaiki da or the second? The second game is the exact same thing with a few minor changes.

  • I would definitely get this as a PSN release… but I don’t have a PSP and don’t plan on getting one.

  • I’ve heard of this game somewhere and was very intriqued, but I was confused as to how you actually play…

But, now that this post has explained it all… I’ve decided that I have to get this game! lol

  • Wow, looks great. Love the retro style.

    Goes into my wishlist.

  • RurouniSaiya-jin

NISA, you crazy fiends!…don’t ever change :P

On topic, the game seems interesting. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this. I’m very curious about how the ecosystems will work.

    • Hi RurouniSaiya-jin,

Hehe, we are not planning to! :p

The demo version of \”Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman!\” will be available on PSN soon! It is better to experience the ecosystem first hand, so please check it out when it is avaialble on PSN! :)

  • hi nao, nice to hear that nisa got another game for the psp…but i think i’m gonna take a pass on this title and focus on your next ps3 one which is x-edge. i also hope that nisa could pick up atelier rorona since you guys have done the atelier series ( u.s localization)before for the ps2!

    nippon ichi ftw! XD

    • Hi perrandy,

Yes, we\’re so excited about this title on PSP! Even if you\’ll pass on Badman, I really recommend that you try the demo version. You might really like it;)

And thank you for supporting Cross Edge!
Oh, Atelier Rorona looks awesome! We all fell in love with the graphics and we are also hoping that we can localize this title! Let\’s all keep our fingers crossed:)

  • Thank you for bringing this game to our shores. I was prepared to import it. I just hope it does well enough for you to bring out the sequel.

I know some will complain about it being a PSP game. They have sour grapes and do not know all the great PSP games they are missing. Just go buy a PSP!

  • Awright, I may not be convinced yet, but I love, love, LOVE Disgaea (1-3) so I get the feeling there’s more to this than I’m seeing. I promise that at the extreme least I will check out the demo. :)

In the mean time… any chance of Disgaea 4? :D

Can’t wait till this releases. :)

  • Great title! Game looks interesting.

Off topic: So when are we going to get the Disgaea 3 trophy patch?

    • Hi Ehahneli,

Thank you! We\’re working on the trophy patch now, but we\’re not sure when it\’ll be available on PSN just yet…Hopefully in the near future!

  • Game looks pretty good.

Don’t have a PSP yet, but I’m sure hoping Sony is going to announce a new PSP this year.

I guess I shouldn’t believe the rumors of the PSP4000 or PSP2, but sure do hope they pan out.

With more PSP games coming out, it’s looking like I’ll be getting one this year.

  • I was lucky enough to have played the Japanese version of this game before, great to see it finally get an English release.

Also, any word on the trophy patch and Home content for Disgaea 3 coming stateside as well? Please tell me its gonna happen. Don’t let me down NIS.

    • Hi tsukasa1288,

I am confident that you\’ll enjoy the US version of Badman, too!

We\’re working on the Home content for D3, so I hope we can make it available on PSN in the near future! Thank you for your support!

  • OMG! I remember reading about this game in an old EGM (R.I.P.) issue, and it’s finally coming stateside!
