Today, we are happy to announce that our latest game, Wheel of Fortune, will be released for the PlayStation Network this Thursday, March 19 for $14.99.

We told players back in September 2008 that this title was in development, and it brings us great pride to be able to show the finished product on behalf of SOE. Starting Thursday, players can spin the wheel and solve the puzzle with America’s Favorite Game Show! Wheel of Fortune captures the spirit of the popular TV show with high-definition graphics and realistic gameplay!

Our development team has worked diligently to give this game an in-depth character creation mode and a player experience that fans of Wheel of Fortune will love. PlayStation Network is so much more than a single player experience. That’s why, aside from solo play against A.I. opponents, we offer network/multiplayer modes with voice chat support. This is sure to get the competitive juices flowing with real human competition. To add even more fuel to that spirit, we’ve included PLAYSTATION 3 Trophies for players to earn.

Do you want to go “on location” with Wheel of Fortune? We want to bring players that national flavor the real TV show brings to households across the country. So we give you the ability to play in 11 different cities across America: Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas, New Orleans, Charleston, Philadelphia and Fort Lauderdale.

With nearly 9,000 puzzles to challenge your mind, high-definition graphics, studio sets and sound effects straight from the TV show, and realistic gameplay, we think that you are in for a huge thrill with Wheel of Fortune for PSN.

Thanks for reading, and I hope to see you playing Wheel of Fortune online on the PS3!

  • I’m not buying it but $15 is WAY too steep for anyone.

  • ah the game would be so much better if they sprung to include voice work from sayjak and vanna white. this silent version will bore me to tears.

  • Awesome! But youve got a long way to go in order to make me happy. I hope I find a sonic Unleashed DLC in this week’s update, Sony.

  • Self-Service
    Ticketing
    Kiosk
    Boo-ya

    Hit me up Smooth423

  • No Pat? No Vanna? Again, how hard is it to tap them and get them in a recording booth? It wasn’t hard for Gametek, Hasbro Interactive and Atari to do it, I can’t see how hard it is for SOE.

Does this feature any of the show specials (Mystery Round, $1,000,000 Bonus wedge, Wild Card)? And is there any older ones (Surprise wedge, etc) in there as well?

  • What a bunch of whiny…….Can’t believe so many people crying about $5.
But I digress. Looks awesome, and will give me and my girl something to play late at night. Thanks. And thanks for leaving Pat’s arse out of it. Coulda used a Vanna, but she would just slow it down. lol.

  • im sure ill have loads of fun…considering the old school game…well it sucked

  • Gotta agree with most of the people on here…Home support is a no-brainer for a title like this. $15 is a little on the high side, but if it’s a quality title, I don’t mind. That’s a big IF though!

  • custom soundtracks?

  • Home integration seems like a no brainer for this game. Why not be able to import your Home avatars?!?!?

  • This seems too similar to Jeopardy. I know it’s a completely different game but it seems like everything else was almost copied over to this game. I expect this game to drop down to $10 since I think hardly anyone will buy it.

  • I will wait till 10$ price tag, Jeopardy was bad…. really really bad for 15$.

  • I think it’d be awesome if you could use your PlayStation Home avatars. C’mon SOE you guys should!

  • I agree… $15 is a bit high for a DLC game that I think would be pretty easy just to make myself, BUT… I am a huge fan of the show and the game, SO I may just end up buying anyways. Can’t wait!

  • will this game have custom soundtracks
or anything to do with home

  • @94: “people who bought Jeopardy should get this for free, $14.99 ? No way jose”

LOL, that’s such a true statement.

Seriously people, this is the same development team that upchucked Jeopardy all over us last year for $15.00.

I guarantee you’ll see repeat puzzles back to back. I’m not going near this (and I probably would have if I’d never seen their work on Jeopardy).

Also funny how Jeff hasn’t replied here since post #6. >50% of people telling you your games suck will do that to a person I guess.

  • hello,

i’m happy to hear that! i just love the “gluecksrad”… will it be released in germanys store, too…? this thursday?

  • It would be great to see some home avatars in this.

  • Good addition to the PSN ;)

  • I might actually get this *cringes in prep for harassment*

  • @106: If you think people are just complaining about the price, you’re missing the point. It’s not so much that people aren’t willing to pay 15 bucks for a game, it’s that we’re not paying 15 bucks for THIS game. If you played JEOPARDY, you would understand.

This game has been on my watch list for over a year. I would have paid 20 bucks for it…had JEOPARDY never been released. I’m hoping Wheel of Fortune will be better, but the video only confirms some of my fears. I may end up buying it after a price drop and hopefully a patch.

  • I’ll prolly buy it but I wont like what I’m paying for it :(

  • @Smooth423. About 4.5 hours too late, dude. Mind you, I didn’t get a prize.

  • Yeah, me and a friend bought Jeopardy to play online together and it forced us to wait for some random 3rd player to finally join. If this game is like that where you HAVE to have 3 people online to play instead of making it either empty seat or at least AI im gonna have to pass.

  • Jeopardy was an embarassment to the PS3. And from the looks of the trailer…this is the sequel.

  • are Pat and Vanna not cool enough to be in the game anymore or just not poor enough? :-(

  • Jeopardy had so much potential, but it really fell flat due to a lackluster presentation. They spent so much time bragging on how well the studio graphics were and spent so little time on the character presets and creation.

If I were Alex Trebek, I wouldn’t give them the rights to my likeness either. They could have at least had a generic voice over talent read the answers and the correct questions. Plus, still NO Trophy support.

Games like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune have so many knock offs online (for free), that they shouldn’t waste their efforts by putting out a sub-par game.

I don’t care how much the game costs. People pay $60 for games like Buzz because of the unique interface and the effort put into the voice work and visuals.

Even if Wheel of Fortune is one quarter of the cost of Buzz, I would rather spend the extra 45 bucks and get Buzz instead. I would only have to spend 30 dollars if I hadn’t gotten duped into paying full price for Jeopardy.

    Downgrade!

  • Hmmm… trophies you say…?

    How about custom soundtracks?

    (Just a thought.)

Anyways, this game seems like it will be a LOT more enjoyable than Jeapordy was… but it still seems like it’s lacking a little…

Oh well, I MIGHT buy it… if the price goes down a few bucks or something…

  • I get the feeling this game is going to be the same deal as Jeopardy. No Pat, no Vanna. No voice at all. It’s going to suck!

Sony, give us a reason to play this on PS3, and not just go on yahoo and play it there!!

PLEASE READ #49’s comments. He’s absolutely right, and i as well as others completely agree.

I think these PSN games need some beta testing by the gamers!!

Trust me, people will be more willing to pay more money for something that doesnt suck. You’ll get the diehard fans the first week, but after that it’ll collect virtual dust on the store.

No host, no sale! Sorry Sony!

  • $15 and no host, no Vanna? Pass.

  • well i was going to buy this but its just like jeopardy so i guess sony doesnt want my money screw this ill just wait or play it on pc for free ,,lmao soe and 15$ WOW

  • I kind of wish this was just inside a world on PlayStation Home instead… Of course, then I wouldn’t be able to play with people on my couch and I’d have to wait in Home lines, but if it was free or I paid in some sort of Home money (not tied to real money, but something I earn by doing other things on Home — which I wish would happen. So much potential in Home that’s untapped IMHO).

If this was 5 bucks I might consider it if I had a bunch of friends/family over and we were bored I guess.

@KazeEternal @57 — I agree. My friend also bought the 80GB recently and I was shocked to find out that in addition to no PS2 support, it also now lacks the media card reader and 2 USB ports! Really? That’s the only way they can get the price down? strip, strip, strip? I have the launch 60GB version and I’m glad I do — seems like it’s the best version they ever released which is bizarre to me. Isn’t stuff supposed to get better with age, not worse?

  • I love WoF, but this looks too much like Jeopardy… :/ I’ll pass.

  • This just made my day! Picking it up for sure!!!

  • Just had an idea, they should implement prizes for PS Home. That would be great.

  • Meh, Looks like ALMOST as big as a let down as Jeopardy was. Boy did I ever get burned by that piece of garbage too.

I was really lookin forward to Jeopardy since I loved the PS2 one with Alex Trebeck and everything.

    Sony Fail. Try again.

  • custom soundtracks?? I’m downloading this now…

  • I downloaded this game and cant for the life of me figure out how to play a local game. I go in and ready player one but there is always a player two standing there…I can find no way to start the game…or to make player two the computer. I only seem to be able to play online. Its very frustrating!!!

  • Not bad, but there is one huge problem with the game as far as the wild card is concerned. For some reason the dev’s have it set up that the option to use the wild card only pops up after buying a vowel. In the game, once you’ve called a valid consonant, you always have the option of using the wild card to call another letter instead of spinning again. Someone needs to fix this flaw in an update. Otherwise it’s a pretty solid title. Once you get past the no host and hostess thing, graphics wise this is about the best thing going since the N64 version. Just too bad it didn’t have spin power based off the analog stick like the N64 did.

  • not bad just please make a patch update with in-game music. and game would be totally worth the $15.

  • Hi please give praise where it’s due this game is great can’t stop playing it and 15 bucks is a bargain when you think EA has the cheek to charge 40 bucks for Trivial Pursuit (spelling not my strong point). We need to support developers and I for one am gald the presenters are not there. This is fine when you are watching on TV but not interested in having them in the game and don’t like them anyway. This makes the game flow better and overall love this game.

  • This game looks too similar to the major letdown that was Jeopardy. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I’ll have to pass on this.

  • my friends and i play wheel or fortune every wednesday night and give out real trophies from >a href=http://www.crownawards.com>Crown Awards lol , we’re cool

  • i bought this to play online against poeple, so i let my brother sign into my profile to download it to his machine, but when he goes to play it, message pops up about copyright protection and he must activate his system first. anyone have this problem. every other game he downloaded off my account worked fine.

  • I bought this game at launch and i love it. I disagree with some people here i’m glad theres no vana that just slows the game down. This game is even better when people are over, play with 3 controllers or online.

One gripe – the women characters are horrible. lol

  • Forgot to ask any plans on getting Family Feud to the PSN????

That’s another great game, I have the PS2 version but i would love an upgrade like Wheel of Fortune.
