Why cant i rent, buy, and see all movies in hd and sd. Why are there options limited for some movies? This really limits my purchases. Nice update though and good updates on the movie service.
SPACE COWBOYS I love that movie playstation store is really getting alot of content I wonder when canada and europe are getting their psv (playstation video) Lots of good additions this week. BTW to the playstation blog (this may be only the second time ive ever commented) but I love this website and Im here like 3 times a day lol great job ;)

It is on it’s way to Canada, I am also waiting. No date has been set yet though. You can upgrade your internal HDD easily, just buy any 2.5″ Laptop HDD. There are instructions in your manual. You can get an external HDD anywhere just format it to FAT32 and you are set. Best Buy had a 500GB Lacie External HDD for $89 in Canada. It is a 2.5″ External Drive so you can even take it out of the chasis and use it in your ps3. 500gb ps3 for $89. Sounds like a gret price to me.

Now you mention it, I’d also like to file in a request “again” to Sony to fix the Message system. Mine is flipping each time I’ve received and sent over 20 messages. Plus showing profiles was suppose to get faster… but it went from not utterly fast to utterly slow :-D
On-topic: I’m so being punished each time I see the list of downloads for the Americans. *Sigh* at least 6 more months of waiting :-(

That’s because the download service is “only” available to the USA, the service is IP locked. Despite the fact you have an US account it automatically blocks you from visiting the download service when you’re from outside the USA.
aww i thought so… but i also thought “why would sony do such a thing!!?” … anyways!! it’s their lost XD…

I guess it has to do with local legalizations. Though I wish for once Sony would release something “worldwide”, so that not others have to suffer for waiting so long.
Hey guys, I got a question. Why can’t I access the video store on my PS3? I can get to it from the Playstation store website but why dont I have the option to switch from game to video up top?? By the way I’m using a North American PS3 with a North American account so I shouldn’t be having any problems with this.

Look. It’s not Sony’s fault your government has insane copyright laws. If you don’t like getting shafted whenever a new digital distribution platform goes live, elect people who will get your laws under control. Don’t blame Sony.

He is a little right but wrong in the same time. It’s time that digital distribution have close captions or subs for deaf people… I’m a little deaf so will be good for me. I one of those that really want captions but almost no one that I can remember offer captions in digital movies. That’s why I beg sony to be different. I saw a video that they offer subs but was only in a Japanese anime with English subs but I was hopping that they offered captions so I can rent all movies that I want.
these lists need to have some sort of marking for what content is HD and what is SD.
@Thingg, at least some respect to the deaf community is the “least” you can do. All DVD’s / Blu Ray movies have subtitles included so that movies have that option as well via the download service is at least what Sony can do.

Don’t worry we will eventually get the video store in Canada. Just after Life with Playstation, Home, the PSN cards and god know what else would be delayed next by Sony. Don’t get me wrong I love my PS3 but Sony executives need to learn to shut-up and deliver. Instead of bragging about new service and not being serious in delivering them. I guess even the Japanese have grown soft, thirty years ago a few Sony exec would have seppuku in front of their boss over that many screw up. How the mighty have fallen!
@ap6ehw, erm… I have a Sony Bravia (yep Sony supporter in many ways) for over a year now, but that one sure doesn’t have a subtitle button on my remote.

sounds great, except Playon expects you to pay for that service too! so that sucks, but i’m sure a free program like TVersity or even Nero Home might be able to recreate that streaming tech..

Can we Canucks get a progress report on the current state of the Canadian PlayStation Video Store plans. I really don’t understand the delay, we up here in Canada watch all the same things as the USA, Everything from the daily show/colbert report, to American Idol, whatever, everything American… we got it, our language laws would explain a bit of delay, but even then,as far as I can tell over here on the West Coast 90% of our tv programming ignores francais’ and multi-lingual laws.
Perhaps you are taking the french speaking Canadians into consideration, when most productions even here in Canada do not, If that’s the case, then that’s kinda’ sweet in a ‘Sony loves everyone’ kind of way, and should not be something that you hide from the public, I’m sure a lot of people would praise for it.

A monthly subscription service is really the way to go. People always bring up the fact that a monthly subscription would ‘lose money.’ I’m sure if the Sony folk put their minds to it they could come up with a viable solution.
I can get many more movies/tv shoes with Netflix for my buck even if I have to wait a day for the disc to arrive.
I don’t need tv enough that I will waste $10 to watch 5 episodes when I can wait a day to get the disc for only $17 a month.
