On Friday, August 1st, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue owners will receive a significant update that will take their racing and automotive experience to a new level.
The heart of this update is a new line-up of exciting automotive programming for “Gran Turismo TV”, our in-game automotive media channel. Gearheads will enjoy a host of new free and pay-per-view programming, including “Top Gear“, UK’s premier car entertainment program, and Japan’s “Best Motoring” video magazine, dedicated to the pursuit of the pleasure of driving.
Whether you’re in the mood to tour Ferrari’s factory in Italy with Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, or to be insulted by Jeremy Clarkson talking trash about your favorite cars, or even sitting down to watch some mad Japanese race drivers play ‘car soccer’, there is a variety of choices for all types of car fans. Gran Turismo TV is housed within Gran Turismo 5 Prologue so access and videos is all in-game!

so whats with the constant error during download? i have been trying to update since 8:00am and it’s 1:12pm… i’ve had to reset my playstation3 twice due to game failing to start… i have deleted my game file and re-downloaded it from the psn and it still won’t update… my route is configured for GT5P and i have a 15Mbit up/15Mbit down connection speed. i have fiber optical internet and am using it right now so i know it works…
why isn’t it working!!!!!????? I am starting to get very angry. i purposely didn’t play it since i heard about the update so i would adjust to the new physics better… I want to play the game i bought with the update that i play to spend money on watching drift videos…. maybe some help here

Yet another update that doesn’t fix the dual player/split screen – modus.
This update ist good for sure!
But I would like to see an fix for the split screen modus too, so the second player should get the opportunity to configure his sixaxis/dualshock3 like player 1 could do!
Further it should be possible for the second player to choose another color if he choose the same car like player 1!
Please don’t forget the 2 player modus.

Another update without an fix for the splitscreen-mode.
Why do you always forget to add an option for the second player to reconfigure his sixaxix/dualshock3 like player 1 can do.
Why can’t player 2 choose the same car with another color ???

finally worked!!!
I still have the error when downloading the update.
I was really looking forward to this update, online experience has really sucked and glad something is being done about penalties. I can’t get connected yet but lets hope it’s the cheaters that get correctly penalised this time instead of us real ppl trying to drive and get caught up in the stupid blinking cars.
After 12 hours or restarting the update because of the usual errors it finally finished… I went straight to GTTV to watch Top Gear and seen the Kiwi’s have been screwed more than most. Splitting up an episode and charging for each part is bloody cheeky then it will expire in 2 weeks; in NZ it will take that long to download!!
Then the exchange rate has baffled me…some ppl just can’t add up. US$0.99 = NZ$1.36 not the NZ$1.90 (Special Offer) their displaying, very disappointed in what promised to be a great update. Maybe next time eh?

Restart your router and switch’s and put your PC’s to sleep, then start your PS3 and Gt5p and begin to update..
I have spend 5 hours just like you all, when I finally did this big decision, and it payed off, No problems at all, and no time what so ever..

With the last month of pain driving online in GT5p Grid F1 Motor-storm FC Flat-out and all The goodies, we all suffers from having a Hell of a good time driving Online, Lot’s Of people must be confused about the different styles of online Racing games that they buy, there doesn’t seem to be a understanding of a code of honor, a attitude to words Clean Online Racing, And It’s the Worlds Online Drivers we are talking about, kids teens Grownups mature, from any country in the world, the need to be told on how important it is to respect the styles of racing, and start learning to drive the Games, and Feel that rush instead It’s 10 Times More energy.
Some one has to start making all companies that creates Racing games interested in Doing a Big effort to communicate to all those people that buy Race titles that Clean racing Is important for keeping the games alive, Like showing the difference between Crash and smash Racing and Skills and real racing, many of us love both, and Cool I got both But ;| Often very disappointing, I the end it’s Not the Games that decides what style of racing there will be, it’s the drivers that are connected..
Please make a World Wide campaign “For Clean Online Racing” That reaches so far to the News papers, then people will start to see them self’s as morons if they don’t get it, With Private rooms ( which is great) and only private rooms when you just one a quick race, you will probably only have total anarchy in the future, yes get some passwords, but it can take some time for all new comers and not so social people, to even find a way to find the passwords, and even to be invited..

Several problems….
The main issue is that alot of the forum users and GT5P players feel… “misinformed”; ignored by Polyphony Digital and and not being addressed to.
Here are a few that can be found on the local PS forums:

What I’ve noticed on the Daytona track is that some racers are taking a shortcut by speeding through pit row and coming out ahead. Once, I was rammed in the side and spun out. I was penalized but the cheater was on his/her way to victory.
I think if someone uses pit row as a shortcut, they should be either 1) Penalized for about 30 seconds, 2) Have their car automatically slowed down (after all it is pit row) and/or 3) Have barriers or obstacles placxed in pit row.
Another issue I have is that someone would hit me and I crash into a wall and get penalized. Or, I am spinning out in the grass/sand and get penalized. Each time the person many times purposefully) is log gone. I may be penalized 4 second, and maybe they are, too. But I am the one who has to slowly get out of the grass/sand and I am now penalized for taking a shortcut. My 4 second penalty just turned into 15 seconds while the other driver only had 4 seconds. I think if you take a direct hit on the side of your car, the other driver should have a bigger penalty than you. While I am spinning out and trying to get out of the grass/sand, the other racer should be losing the same amount of time as i am, or even more for not driving safely.
I do like the update. Don’t get me wrong. But, as with everything, there is room for improvement.

Here is my thoughts on this update, first off congrats on it, as a huge car enthusiast and owner of a Wicked White Evo IX MR, this is music to my ears, I simply love Top Gear and other race related programing. Although, there seems to be a bit of lost communication between Polyphony/SCEA and us, the gamers.
Why, in August of 2008 is there no option implemented or in the works (that has been announced) to race with your friends only? The game released in March 2008 and this options was not available, 5 months later, this option is still not available. What is going on? Why are we having communication problems SCEA? One of the reason online play is such a joy is mainly because we can play with our friends, but with a a glorious, award winning series as Gran Turismo and now 5: Prologue it makes no sense why it’s not here yet. Games like Soul Calibur IV, Metal Gear Online, NBA2k8, Unreal Tournament III all allow you to play with friends, with mics in a private room. Call of Duty 4 came out in November 2007 and allow you to play with friends, with mics in a private room as well, why isn’t Poly following a similar line?
Seriously, videos are nice and all, and it’s a way for Poly to squeeze more money out of us… errr I mean, to bring us quality HD car footage, but this could have WAIT. Yes, WAITED. Poly/SCEA needs to get there priority together, and stop dropping the ball, give us private room racing for our friends, with mics. How are you ignoring this? How is this not on your list of things to do? Why does Kaz find it funny that the fall update may not even make it this fall? I don’t find it funny at all. I find it very disturbing and somewhat lazy. Damage, weather changed enviorments, new cars and tracks, all that can wait, seriously, but the ability to play with just your friends in a private room, even if you can only do up to 4 or 6 is WHAT IS NEEDED RIGHT NOW.
I swear, it’s like somebody at Sony is saying, “they don’t need to play with there friends, I mean, who does that, not our PS3 owners who shelled out $600 + tax for our beloved system and waited nearly 2 years for 5: Prologue. Why would they want to do that? Playing with friends and even talking to them all in a private room is soo overrated”.
Yeah, it’s like that Sony, just like that.
Let’s just say, for example, you guys are working on this feature (my god, you better be), why not make a mention of it so we can stop complaining? I know you guys read the comments, gotta be soar eye to take all this at once, but this feature should be standard in all online next gen games, ALL. Should be no reason to wait or to be patch in at a later time. I swear, Poly white board to do list is all jacked up and nobody cares to think “hey, maybe they want to race there friends? Nah, lets just add a PPV feature and charge them for HD automobile footage first”
WTH? Who thinks like that? Oh yeah, Poly/SCEA. I shouldn’t be too surprised, I mean, getting money out of us first > adding a feature that we can use with our friends. I mean how long did the legendary 2.40 take to come out for us to do a simple in-game messaging to our friends? Yeah, that’s beyond stupid. When is Poly gonna get on there J-O-B and add in this simply feature SONY?
This is August 2008, Ive had a PS3 since near launch, which is by Sony, thee best, greatest console on the market and the other guys (360 and Wii) fail in comparasion, right?! I have a total of 76 friends, 15 of them are car enthusiast and own GT5:P and I own one of your flag ship series titles, GTA5:P and I can’t play my friends online yet? At all? No way possible? Am I dreaming? 2008? Sony, gawd damn summer 2008? When is this coming, 2009? or 2010? Hell, at this rate GT5 is vapor ware, will probably see GT PSP first. Seems like some of you corporate guys lack common sense. Does that make any SENSE? C’mon Sony, who is letting this slip under the mattress?

P.S. Seriously, re-do your online menu / setup, it completely sucks and why does it take me forever to connect to a race? The bar goes sooo slow, soo slow. I never have any problems connected online with my other games, its super fast, but with GT5:P its slow as molasses. For example, you need to have it setup where you connect online FIRST, not in the middle of progression, but when you hit the icon for online in the main menu, YOU ARE LOGGING ONLINE RIGHT THEN AND THERE. Next, (depeding on connection speed), you choose which course you want to race, will say Suzuka, and will say this only allows up to 8 players, than the first person to enter in this room is the host and he awaits others with a similar matchmaking a la COD4, where we can talk amongst others or maybe even see stats on others who enter the room. The background should have the Suzuka course and other lil course tidbits too. We should be able to see our cars, colors and maybe even some HP/TRQ stats, ok, maybe not, too much info lol. Next to our names should be a mic icon showing that we are talking and just waiting for the match to start. Once we get all 8 players in, the match should start within 10secs and BAM, we start racing!
Sony handle something similar soon. You are killing us owners with this delaystation crap.

With the latest update, i have found that the game loading is actually faster.
As for ptting in voice chat and team racing, those would be nice to have. However, if in order to put any of that into Prologue Polyphony has to take programmers away from the actual full game, I would rather wait.
Remember, folks. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is just a demo. The biggest demo ever, in my opinion. Be happy that they even put updates in for that, a demo. I am quite sure that many of the things that people are asking will eventually make it to the ACTUAL, FULL game.

Basically while I find the content you guys are offering to be of high quality, I will not be downloading anything that costs money. The price is good, but I think making content only viewable for 14 days that you have downloaded onto your hard-drive is a big mistake.
Also, I know I may be in a unique situation but I shared the expense of my PlayStation 3 with my uncle, who lives nearby. He has no computer or internet access. I would love to be able to buy content, take the PS3 across the street to his house on weekends to show it to him, but the videos are not available without internet access even though they reside on the local hard-drive, what a crock.

Poly, please develop a system that uses in game advertisement. or something like tournaments sponsored by Nissan, toyota and so on. this will allow you guys to create GTTV series for car enthusiasts for free. PPV destroys the game in someway.
Other the that it is great the GT5P is a testing ground for the final version of GT5.
I just thought of something. Occassionally I receive free demos or videos in the mail. If I found any of it exciting, I would go out and buy the game. That’s what happened with the firts Gran Turismo. Received the demo and went out and purchased it the following weekend.
I think this is something that should be done for some of the programs/magazines that are to be featured on GTTV. Release a free sample of the best episode/issue to attract “racers” who are hesitant in making a purchase. If they like what they see, they may spend money on future installments.
STOP THE MADNESS! You don’t need damage! It won’t add much to the game. You do need good impact physics though. -Done with the Damage children. What GT really needs is to get back to its roots! And I mean now or most of us hard core weekend racers, tuners, techs and real car men are going to continue looking else wear. Remember the opening to the first GT? It had a FD3S tearing ass off the line with a roaring straight pipe exhaust. It was about being able to take any car (possibly the one in your garage), and tubing it out, putting in a cage and making it a FULL RACE CAR WITH PAINT AND ALL! Eff the damage and put the ability to turn all cars into factory racers. That was part of the appeal of the first two games. With GT3 the game lost all heart as GT became the human less, cold world it is now. Get some voices in there for God’s sake!! GT3 ushered in the flash show with out the GO era. It was about tuning! Again, IT WAS ABOUT TUNING, ANYTHING! Without the ability to “Fully Tune” any car GT3 and 4 spat in the face of the original then sucked the fun and anticipation out of earning the money to buy, and tune YOUR car. There is no point in being able to tune an engine to an unusable HP number and then stop short on the body. The Full Tune mod gave the cars a personality. A fast personality. Bring it back or watch your franchise wither and die. But you probably don’t care as long as it looks good doing it.

How about this for an update, MAKE A FULL GRAN TURISMO 5!!!! sorry I had to say it, I want a full gran turismo not this glorified demo crap. They need to get off there butts and make a full game, it’s not acceptable. I love GT thats why it pisses me off, 360 is already looking at a forza 2 coming out, and we don’t even have a full GT yet!!!!!!! Listen to me! release a real gran turismo! release a real gran turismo! It’s almost as important as god of war. P.S. Forza sucks compared to GT.

In order for GT5 to be the best REAL racing game.. it needs to have:
Car Damage, i dont care for the Creators vision.. the Game should be labeled a (Real DRIVING Simulation) when its in a Racing setting!!
Regular cars you can turn into racing cars. im not talkin about puttin racing wheels and modifying the motor on a car…im talkin about turning your everyday BMW M3 into a actuall BMW M3 GTR youll see onthe 24hr’s of Le Mans
Action pack gaming. in real life, a Race car driver isnt “Alone”, they always the Race Crew Cheif VIA headset letting the driver know whats up in the race (like how GRID is)

Please Please Improve The Online Mode, I Want To Race My Buddy’s
Im not too fond of the new online update, I still get crashed into and Im the one getting the penalty, please get this fixed asap, it gets to the point that even in Expert I can have a flawless run and if someone hits me I get the penalty instead of the person who hit me. Another thing that sucks is that once you are in online mode, if you want to use another car you have to go back to the first screen and then go back to online mode. Would be nice to have the garage incorporated once you are on the online screen w/o having to go back to the menu.
