Busy week = fat reading list. As the many gaming blogs and websites digest all the games they went hands-on with at E3, expect to see a *lot* more impressions in the coming week.

Any good coverage we missed? Link it below. Please note that links may take a little while to show up, so only post the comment once!

I agree with you entirely. Wheres the links to you guys loosing ffxiii or as i like to call it “a couple million ps3 sales?”

  • They didn’t lose it. They lost exclusivity rights to it.

Pictures are worth a thousand words.

The white male with a huge grin is MS bigwig. The other male is the head of SquareEnix.

  • @15 Masterofallz
    rock on Masterofallz,your awesome.

  • OMG…

Just saw the conference last saturday. What a way to show how things are done.

With Blu-ray winning the format war (thanks to the tremendous install base) multimedia content should fall from the skies.

I loved LBP, Flower, The last guy, Resistance Retribution (I think it’s time to get my psp back. Sold it before the price went down cuz of the new psp slim)

This is really the year of the PS3 and I am glad I trusted you guys a year ago.

Now I only want my store cards to buy stuff.

Two things I would like to add:

    1) Did anyone noticed that the second part of the press conference it’s oddly zoomed too much?
    2) I live in Argentina. What sort of things can we expect with the Latin Support Jack said in the conference? The things I want are:
a)accept our credit cards (well, maybe that won’t be necessary once I get the playstation cards)
b)Is Argentina not entitled to the new video store? I can’t access the option and I saw it could be normal for other countries
    c) Local support. Everytime I update my PS3 I stop breathing just to think if I cripple the system I might have to send it to the US.

    Thanks for reading…I guess…

    =)

  • so does this mean you will be able to chat with PC users soon :D

  • So, is Life with PlayStation coming this week or next week?

  • July 31 is when Life hits.

  • Man Jeff thanks for hating on us, we ask a simple question and you remove our post. This topic isn’t about a certain item it’s about several sites. We ask about the song sony used and you remove our post.

  • @Land of Trill:

    Where did you hear that?

  • I too wish to know the E3 playlist.
A lot of good songs used :)

  • @59

Sony said playstation life would be out before the end of the month so anytime between now and the 31st so when ever.

  • yo guys check this out:
In an interview with 1UP, co-producers Shinji Hashimoto and Yoshinori Kitase for Final Fantasy XIII spoke about the upcoming RPG. They reiterated that FFXIII will not be delayed in Japan due to the 360 version. They will complete the PlayStation 3 version first then port the game to the Xbox 360 during localization for English speaking territories. The most cryptic statement though, is when Hashimoto is asked about Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete, he replies “You can look forward to the upcoming invite-only fan event DKΣ3713, where we’ll have a major announcement that will shock the fans in attendance.”

So whats the shocking announcement this time? Final Fantasy VII for the PlayStation 3 or maybe Xbox 360? We’ll have to wait until the beginning of August to find out.

  • @14 it’s the song at the begginning of the press confrence.

I wish this blog had sigs so that i don’t have to keep posting this: when will we get a link explaining that the psn cards are going nationwide

  • @14 it’s the song at the start of the PS3 press confrence at E3 2008

Also I wish I saw a link about psn cards

  • @50, I agree absolutely.

What I heard about PS3 this week was a lot of people thinking about trading in their console because most of PS3’s must-have exclusives are available on 360, or will be. I heard a lot of anger and disappointment that Sony cares more about using their console to push their movie studio and HD optical format than to provide the same sort of phenomenal gaming experience that the PS2 offered… or that Sony doesn’t care about securing exclusives and by removing backwards compatibility there aren’t any more exclusives RPGs… and hardly any cross platform ones.

Put quite simply, I agree with all of those statements. Unless Sony has something phenomenal tucked in their hat, I think it’s time I renewed my Xbox Live Gold subscription, and I think I’ll think twice about purchasing future Sony consoles — assuming there ARE any, since from what I can tell, Sony’s committment to this industry is close to zero these days.

  • @61

I know that. I was asking where Land of Trill heard the 31st specifically.

  • @jqtaxpayer

    Really??

Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, Metal Gear Solid, Flow/er, Final Fantasy (They are not getting the same game), God of War III, Resistance 2, Gran Turismo 5 …

What do they have? Fable II and Gears of War, which is coming to PS3.

The choice of the console is basically made for the games. I like Sony exclusives. Do you like MS exclusives? Well, buy their console.

People should realize that Sony is doing whatever anyone else is doing: Going for the multimedia market.

MS is not. Why? It depends on the add-on which no-one is buying.

Anyway, this is not a war, but the story of the PS3 not having games it’s history and I am sick of it.

    With all due respect..

  • @blizzard182
Im too from Argentina ,my PSN ID : Fersis

    @blizzard182
Gears of war ?? i dont think so.

    @59 espiox
I think that july 31 is the PJEden release date, gonna buy that game.

  • Hey I wasn’t really worried but Life is basically just Weather info and powered by google is there anything else?

  • good news:

Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford has revealed to VideoGamer.com that Gearbox Software will support the PS3’s recently implemented Trophy system in there upcoming games.

The developer currently has three high profile multiplatform first-person shooters coming out this year and in 2009 – Brothers in Arms Hell’s Highway, Aliens: Colonial Marines and Borderlands.

Pitchford added: “We will support it because we think it’s cool and we think what Sony’s doing is cool. We want to be part of that. But there’s not like a requirement or anything. They (Sony) are pretty cool about it. I’d like to see what happens, but we haven’t designed them yet or figured out what they’re going to be.”

  • @Fersis

It was a typo. I meant to say maybe: http://www.vidaextra.com/2007/07/16-una-nueva-entrega-de-gears-of-war-podria-llegar-a-playstation-3

I’ll add you as soon as I get home. There is not many people in Argentina with PS3. Mi ID is blizzard182 too.

Hey, Jeff, why don’t you gather some people from the Blog and we join together in a Internet game or something?

I have Resistance which I think anyone here has. Or it could be another game.

    What do you think?

  • Jeff, please! We need that song!
    Its epic.

  • Jeff, please! We need that song!
    IT EPIC!

  • Jeff, please! We need that song!
    IT EPIC!!!

    ITS EPIC!!!

  • Jeff, please! We need that song!
    WE NEED TO KNOW PLEASE!!!!!

  • Jeff, please! We need that song!
    WE need to know!!!

  • Stop with that man ,its just a silly song.
Is not worth it to be banned for.
    Cheers

  • just do what I did get some software and record the audio from the video its a good song though if I ever find out the name I’ll post

  • What was the song you used at E3.

  • I am sorry. Which song? I don’t have Sound here.

If you are talking about the song that was on PS3 commercials that showed the PS3 transforming and everything I know it was a Saliva song.

  • okay everyone I know the song was good but I looked everywhere and couldn’t find it I’m sure it was an exclusive made just for the presentation if I’m wrong please correct me but I have it so I’m not concerned

  • No Jeff, please… don’t bother finding out what the song was… don’t bother asking all these ‘insert random dev position & name here’ what they are up to…

Here’s what you can do, if you feel so inclined, ban everyone who is whining about Square/Enix, etc, because they’re acting like a bunch of children who didn’t get that toy at the supermarket while out shopping with mommy, like they were destined to be the only child to have ‘said toy’, I mean come on… and it’s not even that, it’s that they’re only upset because not only are they getting the toy, but the kid accross the aisle with another mother is also getting the same toy, so somehow this depreciates the value of it? how exactly?

How exactly is this an SE sellout? you bloody fruitcakes gotta’ get your ducks in a row, and if you really want to get technical SE should have been labelled that a long time ago, when they decided their briches were big enough to launch not one… not two… but three parts or incruments of the same title, FFXIII, FFXIII Versus, FFXIII Agito(portable whatever), I remember a time when Square believed that putting all that effort into one single FF title was worth their fan’s $$$, I haven’t been impressed completely with an FF since FFVII, sure I still love SE personally, and have loved FFs VIII-X, even X2, and FFXI(for three years even), but it’s high time people either stop whining about SE’s choices, or get off their ‘BEEPS’ like a buncha’ ‘BEEP’ hungry fanboys. There is other JRPG companies, and Sony is in bed with quite a few of them, so seriously, cool it haters!

What do you think Level-5 is anyway?
mostly SE employees, and mixes and matches of the best JRPG talents in the industry, and they make games mostly for Sony platforms. Dark Cloud? Dark Cloud 2?, Rogue Galaxy(btw if which you haven’t played, you shoudl be shot for calling yourself a jrpg fan), want my advice? no? too bad… GO BUY the dozen and a half Grade A JRPGs released in ps2 format per year… or catch up on the brilliant ones you’ve missed, to tide you over until Sony smacks down the competition.

and Jeff my request stands, because I’d rather you not reply, and instead just hop in the back, and help them plug out some trophy updates, or some other things that literally shouldn’t take so long, It kinda’ feels like we’ve been introduced to another thing we want more of, which is great… but where are they?

also Rayman PSone? on the PSN… really?

I’m sure glad you guys put out Rayman on PSOne… I was finally getting bored with the other un-interestingly bland psone games in the NA PSN, I took a gander at the European PSN, and they have COMMAND AND CONQUER,… are you guys daft? get on those licensing issues, because you can’t truly base your Classics sales research on what you guys have up, in the NA PSN…

  • Yea I just did that…

I guess I was a little irritated about searching for ps3 news, etc… and reading nothing but whining about this and that.

Every single one of the whiners in here, know that they have the intelligence, and rationality to deal with this, dig deep. Find your center, stop crying about how your life matches FF timeline, etc. Just play, live, love life, and stop threatening to ditch the brand you love, because FF isn’t exclusive.

  • @ Kedaro – i will second everything you just said about all the whiners concerning FFXIII. but there are some us that just want that song. shouldn’t be too hard for a simple reply on here.

    peace,
    Lh

  • “What I heard about PS3 this week was a lot of people thinking about trading in their console because most of PS3’s must-have exclusives are available on 360, or will be”

And some of Xbox 360’s “must have exclusives” are coming to PS3. And whats more is I’m fairly sure ALL of Xbox 360’s must have exclusives come to the PC at some point. So what?

Many of the people I know went out and bought the PS3 not because of one single game (FFXIII), but because of the games that were coming out for it. Furthermore, I know people who have gone out and bought PS3’s because of what they are doing and plan to do.

I’ve said in previous posts, if people bought their PS3 specifically for FFXIII, 1) thats pretty silly to buy a console for one single game, but 2) they’re not going to say “Oh well now it’s on XBox so I’ll just get it for that” Come on now, think about it.

Judging from the video, the tool from MS seemed rather ecstatic about their acquisition of the game. Was this because they felt they needed it to compete? Did they want it to begin with? From what I can tell it seemed like it was a last minute move from MS to acquire something they knew would sell now that Bungie jumped ship. What better way to get some sales than to catch the biggest RPG franchise. I mean, has anyone thought that sales on 360 are boosted by the year+ lead they had on the PS3. Go ahead with your “oh thats an old argument” BS but it’s true. But wait, NPD reports PS3 sales are higher than 360 on a monthly basis. Is PS3 catching up in a years time? Call it cheesy but I’m thinking tortoise and the hare here.

As far as I am concerned the whole FFXIII issue is gone. People on these boards seem to more focused on what else Sony is doing (and that E3 song which was pretty bad ass). If the new FF is anything like past few, I might even think twice about picking up a copy. Bring me the good old FFVII or even some old school FFII. The franchise hasn’t been the same since.

It comes down to what consumers want and I can guarantee not every consumer out there is creaming themselves at the thought of FFXIII. The world is not over folks.

  • @Kedaro

I felt like I was seeing Peter Griffin’s “Grind my gears”.

You should do another one starting with “You know what really grind my gears…”

  • Damn. To put it more simply, Kedaro kind of sums up my view on the FF issue. *golf clap* Thank you sir for the smile on my face.

  • @Kedaro.

Don’t bother finding out what the song is? Dude, he works for Sony right? He’s the closest person we can ask to finding out what it is.

    It’s not whining. It’s asking.

  • when is playstation life coming jeff? Please reply

  • When was the last time that someone from Sony actually answered a question? I don’t think I saw a response since the FFXIII bomb dropped.

  • Ok, two things.

    1) Aksys Games recently announced Battle Fantasia for the Xbox 360. I know that this game was released in japan for teh PS3 and 360, so all it needs is localization. What I hope is not the case is that SCEA did not give the ok to put the game out in the US and basically give the 360 another exclusive, and a fighting game at that. To be used with their notoriously bad d-pads. Please help out the fans that want this game on the PS3.

    2) As I always seem to request, can we get some new PSN avatars. Heavenly Sword, echochrome, Metal Gear Solid 4…something. Please.

  • I wonder what SE has in store for us next week. Another bomb on our heads? Just mention it, so we can prepare ourselves.

  • Oh and one advice, the more you whine, the smaller the chance of getting an answer. Really guys, at times you act like little children who can’t get what they want.

  • @ Onna76- LOL, I remember a certain someone….who was pretty vocal about FF XIII going to 360 also.

  • – yo guys check this out:

  • @97

Exactly what my rant was about, things that aren’t getting done that need to get done, how come no one is doing them, or letting us know they’re doing them.?

    @86 Lakaihigh

I didn’t mean offense by it, of course Jeff should find the name for the song for you guys, but I meant simply to illustrate the importance of game patches, and other things over using resources to find the name of a song, I didn’t mean any disrespect…

also I don’t think anyone in the PlayStation team is daft, also it was an expression thing, and I think I was just irrate over the lack of replies from officials on this board lately, I suppose to be fair I should take E3 into account, and possibly that they might be working on things that I myself am whining about… haha!

  • ahhh…it’s good to be back-

really looking forward to FLOWer from what i’ve read and saw at E3…
