I dont get it. I wish I could see what goes on in the board meetings. I don’t understand how so many wrong decesions can be made one after the other?
FFXIII exclusive or not, do you want to win get ahead Sony? Drop the price of the ps3 to at least $250. You don’t need gimmicks or motion control to reach the casual market. A low price is the most important thing to the casual gamer.
This puts hardware into peoples home’s and raises 3rd party support.
The word exclusive has to go beyond 1st party, even if it means just an add-on and not a full game.
I hope my comments don’t end up blending with the rest of the rant but I can’t blame the people posting here or everyelse on the web, I feel very much sadden by todays news as everyone else.
I would mind the mult-platform development so much if the PS3 version still took full advantage of the PS3’s hardware. But the announcement that both system’s version will be identical is what bothers me. Now they will take it down to 360’s hardware spec for both systems. I think I’m gonna puke….
Sony is in the ignorance corner and keeping on posting blogs like their noses are bleeding, like that will help.
lol the PS3 has been slowly gaining momentum and fans where calm, but now this news came out and its all back to complaining and whining for us…

FF is one of my fav games but come on, how can you expect much from square? with there non orignal concepts, re-re-re-re and for some titles another re release of the same game. Expect more from square not sony! there just the plantform.

WHen i found out about ffxiii
2 years… 5 years. if you feel this strong about spending your hard earned money wait for the system to lower in price, by that time they may have the bugs worked out with everything. and if not there is the ps4 coming out in a few sony cant be king forever let them use this as a learning curve.

I died a little inside after reading that FF is going multiplatform.
Look at nintendo, the nes, and super no one thought ever that anyone could beat nintendo, then the n64, game cube, flopped, but a few years later, we got the wii. Back on top. Sony needs a few screw ups!
I bet for the Nintendo conference tomorrow, Square Enix is going to announce Kingdom Hearts 3 for the Wii.

Great. But there is proof that there is Ratchet and Clank Future Quest for booty. It has been rated by the esrb so I would think that it is done. Sony’s spanish division has confirmed its existance so I know it is coming out. I would like to know when. Great update though. Thanks guys!

One of the most slap in the face parts of it are also that 360 got the FULL trailer!
For the last two years we get “closed theater” presentations, horrible cel phone pics and video and horrible scans but Square pulls out the whole freaking video for the MS conference.
I am not surprised at the responses from all of you regarding Microsoft’s E3 bombshell. But I have something very interesting to say and I want to know what you guys think.
I wanted to post earlier about how I bought the PS3 for FFXIII and how much I felt betrayed, but I decided to wait until after Square’s press conference and I am glad I did.
It’s obvious that something is going on here. We know now that Square will be completing FXIII on the ps3 and localizing it BEFORE they even start working on the Xbox 360 port. FFXIII Versus is still ps3 exclusive and Square was not hesitant in saying that their decision to port to the 360 was made very recently. And the whole “Japanese version of the game still being ps3 exclusive“ sounds a little odd as well…
My guess is that this is a desperate last minute move by Microsoft. This whole thing seems rushed and not thought out, as if Microsoft threw them a whole bunch of money just to announce that it will eventually come to the 360.
This is the fun part, why would Microsoft need to make such a desperate last minute move? My guess is they knew Sony is going to drop something HUGE.
So before you give up on Sony, wait until after their press conference tomorrow. If it is the expected “show Home, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, and maybe a trailer to God of War” then it’s over. I will be raising hell with the rest of you.
This is a wild guess but if FFXIII can come to the 360 then anything can happen. Hear me out. The one thing that shocked me during the MS press conference, other than the FXIII fiasco, was that we did not hear ANYTHING from Bungie. We know that Bungie left Microsoft, which means they had to be unhappy with them in some way. Bungie obviously has to be working on something… yet no show today. Do not be surprised if there is a Halo 4 announcement tomorrow.
It would all make sense; MS cannot secure the Halo 4 exclusive, since Bungie is independent from them, and does the only thing that could possible counter it and have Square announce FFXIII for the 360.
Sony you have tomorrow to fix this, make us proud. Give me something huge, FFVII Remake, Halo, ANYTHING.

You refuse to pay for third-party title exclusivity. Are you willing to pay for third-party title non-exclusivity?
Seriously, you don’t want to pay third-parties for exclusives. That’s fine. Your competition is liquidating all their 1st party developers and using those funds to pay third-parties for exclusivity, timed exclusivity, and for access to games that used to be PS3 exclusive (non-exclusivity) a la Devil May Cry 4, Assassin’s Creed and now FF XIII.
Isn’t it time to return the favor? Don’t pay for exclusivity. Pay for non-exclusivity. Shell out some cash to SquareEnix to get Star Ocean and Infinite Undiscovery on the PS3. Throw some money at Bioware for Mass Effect (and it’s inevitable sequel). Pony up to get GTA IV’s downloadable content.
Suddenly, your competition has to pay a whole lot more to make exclusivity attractive to third-parties, thus reducing the likelihood of pursuing exclusivity in the first place. Since they’ve already sold off all but one of their first-party studios, guess who ends up with the bulk of the true exclusives.
You, Sony. Get it together.

A few large holes with your theory.
Bungie didn’t leave Microsoft. Microsoft allowed them to return to independent status. Microsoft owned Bungie, they weren’t partners. Microsoft outright bought them before the Xbox arrived.
Microsoft owns the Halo IP.
One of the major points for Microsoft in allowing Bungie to no longer be part of MGS was that Microsoft would be given first crack at future Bungie releases. Bungie is allowed to take future releases elsewhere if Microsoft declines them.
I don’t think Sony has anything to fix. Losing one exclusive is hardly damning to their long term plan.

I feel exactly what your saying and I’m 100% sure that this is just pure desperation by Microsoft stealing FFXIII exclusivness. However it is going to work, this one move by Microsoft will keep them a float for the rest of the 360 era. Sony could have buried them making them rush the next 360. I can’t think of anything that can be announced that can trump this.
SONY: I love you…I do…but you blew it.
E3 is essentially over and Microsoft won it. This generation will not be a clear victory for you.

It’s clear now that Microsoft will do whatever it takes now to win this generation, and Sony, you’re not doing enough.
My favorite genre of games is RPGs and Microsoft is just doing more to give them to me.

Thanks Sony, thanks. I don’t care that exclusvity was lost. What I do care about is the quality of the final product. I can only assume that now Square-Enix is spreading their resources over 2 versions of the game that FFXIII will ultimatley not be all that it could be.
You know that policy about not buying exclusives that you guys have had for so long? Its commendable, but lose it.. NOW.

Wouldnt it suck if FFXIII was actually shorted because its coming to the xbox due to its disc space? Well all know xbox has inferior hardware but what if that happened. Just a thought though.

Why do you think FFXIII has to be dumbed down? The only thing that is happening is that Squenix has to find a way to get a bluray onto as few dvds as possible. Outside of firing the SCEA PSN team and bringing over the European guys to handle it (and I wish they’d do this after what seems to be the neverending string of disappointing Thursdays), I can’t imagine what megaton good news Sony has for tomorrow to match this, but having a game on multiple consoles is not a bad thing and changes nothing.
Like I said. Have a little faith. Maybe we can keep Versus XIII to our grubby little fanboy selves. ;)

You need to stop production of the ps2 already and push the ps3. And seriously… try buying one important exclusive. Clearly, no one really looks down on it.

Ms will have gear 2 counter that again lol gow 3 will take the place of heavenly sword though hopefully it will turn out alot better than the hs and ms will still be leading.
