A week from today, I’ll be heading down to LA for E3 2008. I wanted to run some of the coverage plans by you, and see what you’d like to see on the blog during the week of July 14.
Next week we’ll ramp up to the Expo by sharing interviews with producers and developers of the games you’ll be seeing at E3. I asked you to tell me what you wanted to know, and that’s exactly what happened. One interview a day through the kickoff of the conference.
Once we get going, I’ll be live-blogging our press conference for those who won’t be able to watch streaming coverage (things kick off at 11.30am Pacific Tuesday, so I’d imagine those of you in the work world will be busy with that). Throughout the rest of the conference I’ll be doing my best to answer your questions and follow your coverage requests. I’ll ask for those suggestions next week.
Also, I’d like to know: who’s going to be in LA that week? I’d like to meet up with readers, fanboys, fellow bloggers, and any other interested party a few hours after our press conference. Interested? We’ll come up with something fun and free. Let me know in the comments.

In Movie (Blu-Ray) XMB? Gimmie a break. That the most stupid crap i’ve ever heard of. Why would you want to disrupt a perfect HD movie to answer a stupid message. Unless it’s the President of the US with a life or death message, nothing is important enough it can’t wait 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours for me to finish watching a movie. Sorry, huge plot twist coming up here honey, but I gotta pause to check a message from joe-jackass.
How about some real features. Some of you guys crack me up.

I really hope that you guys have some big plans for Qore and E3 in the August issue. Because of right now the content is really poor. I would really like to see some behind the scenes stuff at E3.

The trashing of the PlayStation3 net-wide started the very week of launch, If that wasn’t a dirty tactic I don’t know what is… It’s like a large group of people got paid to do it too, because It completely came out of left field, Everyone I knew loved Sony, I was hardcore into FFXI on my ps2, when 360 launched, and I knew about 300+ people on my server, and none of them were interested in MS’s machine, it’s a conspiracy, and a great example of how blind the younger consumers can be, in order for them to be so easily brainwashed by the ‘media’ and false advertising… Sony has done nothing but keep it ‘real’, when they don’t follow through on promises, they come forward and say “Hey sorry guys!, we’ve run into some snags, and we’ll do our best to fix the issue”, other companies would publish lesser quality substance, and fix it later… Sony wants it’s consumers to have the best of the best, Ps3 = classy! The rest are second at best.

key word there is ‘younger consumers’. Most people i know that have a ps3 (including myself), are generally older. Heck, I grew up playing all the playstations so 3 was an obvious choice for me. Thats just how it is now.
I agree with PumpkinKingX! Can we please have the SOCOM headset early? I don’t see why you couldn’t sell it separately since there doesn’t appear to be any direct SOCOM logo on the headset.
Also, very well put Kedaro, and I agree completely. When I was choosing a next-gen console, I knew that I wanted to stick with the brand that I already knew and loved. Blu ray was just the icing on the cake:)
I live near Los Angeles, but I don’t know if I would cough up the $40 for gas to get over there.

I downloaded 2.40 and had no problems with it.. until I played Battlefield online recently. Suddenly it gets laggy once in a while and that pissed me off. I have a 16MBit/s connection and it has never lagged for me on any game before 2.40. I just hope Sony would at least announce something..

Everytime I come to read a post all the comments is nothing but Hate and 2.40 firmware comments everytime or you ask about things that are not on topic of the post.
And then everyone Jeff or Noel please repsond come on Please repsond to me, leave these people alone.
They should be deleting comments here right and left because you guys don’t stay on topic at all or complain about stuff the staff has nothing to do with.
The Post can be about Resistance 2 and you guys some how still complain about 2.40 or something else instead of commenting on the post itself. Sad.

This is what i have been saying since the launch of the PS3. There were people on the net who i thing were paid to talk trash about the PS3. Sony just kept calm about the whole thing. I am glad that now the PS3 is shining bright and the truth is out about it being a really great all in one computer entertainment system to own. Spending $399 in this time for a system that saves you from buying a lot of add-ons PS3 is the one to buy. Third parties support the PS3 more than ever now, and Sonys first party titles are way better to play.
Sony better do way better next time though, this was an emotional ride for me i lost some good friends and gained some and some are still waiting to buy their PS3. But i will keep the torch lit because i believe that without Sony in the games business we will suffer at the hands of M$ all for their greed like what they do with Windows.

In a few minor words written than I did (lol), I’m glad I’m not the only one around here with this opinion. I don’t care as much for features, as for “GAMES!” Well, features are nice and make the PS3 even a better machine and I sure use them…but games is mostly the reason why I bought the PS3 for. (J)RPG’s which was promised us, but still are lazy to show their faces on the PS3 :-( Last Remnant delayed on the PS3 (%#$^&), SOIV to the 360 (^#@%&**%# huge censure), Eternal Sonata most likely Japan Only (well #^&$#$&)… really.. you don’t wanna know what I think. Its not Sony’s fault of course, as these games are from 3rd party devs, but still, it makes me “pissed”

I read that also on a Dutch website, but Sony has said that they can’t confirm about this yet, so its uncertain if 2.41 will be online this week.

I’m actually going to be “in the LA area” all week! I also got the ticket for the press conference on the 15th, but I also live within about an hour of the convention center so that helps. Should be cool! Hope to see a ton of cool stuff/people there. I’ll be easy to spot, wearing my blue GAP shirt with Playstation (in Katana Japanese or something like that?) on it haha!

PS3 Software Trophy Support List
We gave you the story of the classic PS3 trio of software that won’t be getting Trophy support, but we still don’t have the official, definitive word on which games will, and which games won’t. We have heard from several sources that about 70% of PS3 titles will support Trophies, but again, we don’t have a specific set of lists.
Well, it’d be difficult to compile, but if you want to check an ongoing updated list, head on over to TheSixthAxis, where they’re currently setting up a “yes, no, and maybe” list for the trophy support subject. As you can see, that trio of Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Resistance: Fall of Man is under the “Will Not Support Trophies” category, as we reported earlier. But it’s the other lists that should interest you, and that includes the “Expected To Support Trophies;” it only includes one game right now: Bioshock. We imagine this is true, because we’ve heard plenty of evidence that this PS3 remake will most certainly boast Trophies. Chances are, 2K was well aware of them when they started on the project.
Anyway, keep checking back as they update it, and we’ll be sure to keep you apprised of any major, big-name titles that will or will not support Trophies. Well, at least for now; eventually, most all games will, so it won’t be much of an issue.

That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. That’s like suggesting the Media Player on a PC shouldn’t work unless a game developer decides to include it in their system.
“Logically”, the PS3 operating system should handle the custom music player, which, ideally, would allow you to listen to any of your music without interruption no matter what you’re doing. Start a game, your music keeps playing. Browse the web, your music keeps playing. Change games, your music keeps playing.
Needing every game to be programmed or patched in order to have this feature is just ridiculous.
It’s one thing to blindly support Sony (as you obviously do) but don’t make ridiculous statements about being “logical” when clearly logic doesn’t play into your opinions at all.

What model PS3 do you have? I have the 60GB model, and last week when I updated to 2.40, I have the PS2 game problem you mention. I put in a game and launch it from the menu. The screen goes blank, and after a few seconds, my TV says “No Video” and it just hangs there. I have to hold the power button on the console to shut it off. My warranty expires on July 19th, should I wait this week for another firmware or call Sony?
