  • I’ll actually be honest here and say that this was more or less a letdown update. There was so much buzz about a BIG update, with cool surprises, you know, to give us a really GRAND reopening of the new PSN store.
While there were some neat things to download, there is really nothing awesomely surprising. I’ve had EURO demo for a while now of UK PSN, as for most of those video, i could care less, and i bought GT in the store!
could have been some cooler demos for sure, maybe a GH song pack and so on. But hey its all back in business and looking better than ever, so at least kudos on that!

  • Make the store ICONS update (much) faster please :)

(felt the need to reiterate that point)

  • #15 – “Why is it that it is $40 for USA and $50 for the UK?”

Why are you asking SCEA that question? Don’t European gamers understand that this is the Sony US blog? If SCEE is charging more you really should ask them why. SCEA has nothing to do with what you guys pay.

  • What?
No discount on broken Mirror for the people who already bought Omega Dawn?

DLC is the devil I am convinced.
I’m putting an end to the money hemorrhaging that is warhawk.

  • Why next week for COD4 maps? X360 has had them for weeks now!

Why are we always so behind?

  • @ 16 & 34

A lot of people here have PSPs and near empty pro duos just begging to be filled with classics that would look great on that screen and can be played on the go. Not to mention quite a few popular PS1 games are now pretty expensive on the secondary market. 3rd, Sony had came out and said before the PSN launch that they expected to have 8-10 PS1 games a month and 98% of the library available for download to their users. At this rate they’re not even going to reach 10% through the life of the PS3. Twiztid, you crack me up. You condescend people wanting more PS1 games then turn around and whine about Rock Band games in the same paragraph. What a hypocrite.

    @SCEA

I’m less and less disappointed by these updates each week only because you’ve lowered my expectations. The only thing I want this week is the Broken Mirror add-on but at least that’s something as opposed to most weeks when there’s nothing out there for me. I had truly expected to see a PS1 game this week so ultimately this update was a letdown especially after 3 weeks of waiting. I only hope
recent announcements by Sony associates to release more PS1 and PS2 titles comes to see the light of day.

  • Way to go Sony. I am so surprised by all of the crap you updated today. What was the major surprise I was supposed to be looking for. Was it the great Lair theme? Was it the two Warhawk themes? Please tell me, what am I supposed to be excited for? We knew the Warhawk add on was coming so that was not a surprise. We expected new songs from Rock Band. I know it had to be the great soccer demo because in NA soccer is soooo popular. Next time when you say there is a big surprise make it worth it.

  • Seriously guys, get some PSOne games on the store, and Im not talking about Crash Bandicoot. You have an entire library of games to choose from (That have been Sony developed) yet you choose to sit on them. I would gladly buy Legend of Dragoon, Blasto, etc. GET GOING ON THIS!

  • Really bad update considering it’s been three weeks. It’s what I expected. No surprises. Lame.

  • @98

It’s a bad update because it gave me nothing I want, and it still doesn’t fix the most glaring shortcoming of the store, the incredibly piss poor support of the PSone classics. I’m glad your happy with this update. I mean that, I don’t wish for other people to be disappointed in something. I just wish I was happy with it too, but I’m not. I see no reason not to express that, and yes, japan does get a “metric ton” more of them, and they much higher quality titles at that.

That, to some of us, makes the Japanese store much better, yes. What is not completely clear about that? We value this feature more than you, so what? Just let us say our peace, and quit harassing people who use the blog for it’s intended purpose, instead of posturing and sucking up to get further into the community ranks.

  • So the store is not updating in weeks and we get 1 weeks worth of updates and lousy one’s at that!

Im going out and buying a new 360 game today instead of waisting it on the PS3! Microsoft here I come!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Let me reiterate very disappointed I don’t play racing games I don’t play Warhawk whats that leave me with nothing. All I want are some classic minigames simple RPGs, simple FPS games, with more than some strange artist flair. You know if I wanted to see weird modern art, I’d got the Modern Art Museum.

  • I’m just so incredibly tired of hoping I’ll be pleasantly surprised one of these days… I keep trying to look on the bright side but the Dark Side is becoming a little too large to look past. It’s like a wife (or wives in this case) constantly nagging for the fence to be painted: either the fence will eventually be painted after enough nagging in a loud enough voice, or it will be carefully sidestepped in hopes that we will forget about it. The truly surprising thing is that these words are coming from me, rather than being shouted down by me. What a fine mess…

  • Could someone please explain to me where Saints of Los Angeles is for Rock Band? 360 users got it 2 days ago…

  • @ Randolph

I’m glad to finally see someone sensibly voicing their opinion.

    @ Loucifer

    Good to have you back

  • any chance we will see some ps1 games in the near future?

  • Ok update. NOTHING I WANT though. PSN is free and I know PSN team work’s hard. So just keep the New Updates coming. and RANDOLF stop posting your thought on everybody’s coment’s THAT IS WHAT THE FOURM IS FOR DUMB@$$.

  • Whats with the Japanese treasure chest contest on their store? Why don’t we have something similar? (3000 YEN store credit – approx $30).

  • Wow, let’s complain some more! That’ll get Sony moving! They’ll be moving a lot faster if we keep yelling and whining and making it sound as if we don’t appreciate the work they’re doing!

Okay, I will admit I’m getting a little wary with Sony and this waiting game. I’m getting a little tired of defending them when everyone is up in arms about them taking too long to get things out, but none of you, and I mean NONE OF YOU even considered that Sony is under a bit of pressure.

I don’t think they’re dragging their asses because there’s but so much they can do. You have people yelling at them for not getting out PSOne games, you have people yelling about Home and XMB. I will say it once and I will say it again.

THEY WON’T COME ANY FASTER IF YOU KEEP YELLING LIKE THIS.

Either sell your PS3 or try to have some patience. This is really, really, REALLY annoying.

  • @107

No kidding. if they had gone for an actual surprise, they could have loaded all the currently ESRB rated PSone games up, and I would have added whatever amount of funds was needed to buy each and every one of them, today, right now. But it’s like I’m sitting here, waving money on their face, and they go “Hmmmmm….. nah”.

  • @116

You just did exactly what you claim I shouldn’t be doing, practice what you preach. Until then, you can simply not read my posts, and try not to get emotionally worked up over words on a computer screen at a gaming blog posted by a guy a thousand miles away who simply has a different opinion than you do. (and who expressed them without flaming people who see differently, unlike you)

  • EU Update: 4 Things, WarHawk Expantion, MGO Beta, Lair Patch & A Video!

    US Update:
    1 Full Game
    6 Add-Ons
    6 Trailers
    1 BD Trailer
    3 Themes

    Sony, This is patetic!

Please tell us why you give US Store all material!!

Why cant you give EU Store the same stuff?..

I get so darn angry at you because that you give EU Store stuff like 2-8 weeks after US Store and some things dont reach to EU Store!

Are we less worth for you!?!?
Look at Microsoft, They give US and EU almost exactly the same stuff.

Why cant you be as good as they!?…

And please stop with that “Quality over Quantity” talk because it’s just frustrating to see you giving us a really bad store compared to Xbox Live Marcetplace..

Can you defend your self, Please?!

  • I want the add-on for PixelJunk Monsters, or a bundle with it! :D

The only PSone games I want to see on the store are all of them by Squaresoft (well, Square Enix now…). :)

Sad to see no new demos, I always enjoy checking them out since renting a game is so freaking expensive… anyways, maybe more next time, and more for the PSP.

  • @118

It’s a feedback blog, the people “yelling and whining” are using it for it’s intended purpose. If us telling them we find the updates lacking, and telling them exactly what we do want doesn’t motivate them, then they have absolutely no business being in this line of work. In my job, when my customers tell me what they want, I listen, and I deliver. (and I make money)

As for telling people to sell their system… why? I’m not happy with the content of the store, I didn’t say I hate my PS3. I sold my 360 to get more PS3 games and Blu Ray movies, I love my system. I do not however, like the store updates, and I am saying so in a place designed for doing exactly what I’m doing. So why are you getting so worked up?

Guys, it’s just a videogame system. Stop taking negative opinions about it personally, because it makes absolutely no sense for you to get so worked up about words on a screen.

  • thatsmartguywiththefro

Great update! Though not as good as I had expected for a two week abscence. :(

As you can see from the low rating many agree with me. This is dissapointing, especially when you compare it to the plethera of 4-5 ratings that the vast majority of recent blog postings are getting.

I hope this will be the standard size for subsequent updates, and if it is I will be very happy (though I would really like more PS1 games, demos, and PS Eye games). :)

However, if you think this is a HUGE update, and the next updates are all much smaller, I and many more will be sorely dissapointed…

  • 104romoleonard | April 17th, 2008

Easy. Microsoft pays for exclusivity and timed exclusivity, SONY dont.
    I preffer SONY’s way.

  • Randolph, I understand that okay? But to me, it seems as if people on here don’t even appreciate what Sony is trying to do. My goodness, they’re TRYING. Cut them a bit of slack for heavens sake. I’m sure the PSOne games are coming, as well as in-game and Home.

But will they come faster if we keep acting this way? It annoys me because I’ve been a Sony fan from since the first Playstation and I know that Sony will pull through this.

  • @ Randolph, I don’t understand why more PS1 games haven’t been released like on the Japanese PSN store either.

However, have you looked at the majority of those PS1 games in the Japanese store? Believe me, we are getting treated to quality over quantity in my opinion. Which I’d rather have.

What PS1 games are you really anxious for? That’d be more constructive than just whining, like many are doing on here.

I can’t think of any that haven’t already been released that I’m really hurting for other than FF VII, Metal Gear Solid, or the Resident Evil games.

  • @Reqo

This is a blog by SCEA(merica) and although is a sister company to SCEE, I doubt they have the time or gumption to call them up and say “Hey! You guys sure havent been posting alot of content. Gee golly what gives?”

Everyone needs to understand this blog doesn’t reflect the whole of SCEA. As Jeff already stated he’s pretty much the same as us, except with a megaphone pointed at corporate heads.

  • Unless you like GT and Warhawk, of which I like neither, this update is a poor justification for two weeks of no updated content. Why are there no PS1 games? I’m sitting here with hundreds of dollars ready to drop on PSN games and every week you give me no reason to. I honestly am starting to feel that you neutered this week’s update to pressure people into buying GT5P. Put up PS1 games, release Echochrome (it’s in english, the delay makes NO sense) and Wipeout HD, and you’ll get my money. Otherwise, fail. But the new interface is great…

  • Hey, is there any chance for 2 accounts being used at the same time to play videogames online with a buddy?

  • @126

juuken, it is, as a customer, difficult to appreciate someone ignoring your requests. Is that harsh? Yes. But you know what? It’s reality. When I have no supply of a sales item that is featured in our stores ad for the week, I get no appreciation, because though I did try, ultimately, I FAILED. So I tell them I am sincerely sorry, and will try harder, and when those customers come back, I have what they wanted and asked for.

We have no choice but to bring this up because they refuse to respond to our concerns, so we are forcing the issue. As I said, one solid red response on this issue would bring an end to it, but we will NOT get that response. We haven’t for months, and I don’t expect we ever will. In my line of work, that would mean paying customers taking their business to one of my competitors.

  • Love that if it doesn’t give “me” what I want it is poor. Who buys a gaming system to play old games. Sure I love classics as much as the next person but even then I’m not sitting here with greatest hits/ psone games right next to my ps3. Do you see the games that the japanese store gets and how much s… actually comes out some of those games are of quality but if you look at the fan based ratings of these games being rereleased and you will see what I mean. Lets say they release these games, many never even hit america, you pay 9.99 or 4.99 and the game sucks now you are angry because you paid for something you did not like. Now you want a demo of the game and now you are unhappy because there was no demo. It is a endless problem that you will never be happy with, so you might as well sell your system! Randolph because you will never be pleased with that mind set of “me.” From your previous post, I figure you are a early adapter like myself so I will make the same offer, if you have a 60GB version 2.0 or under throw it up on the auction site give me the link and I’ll buy it and wish you the best with whatever other console you want.

Blogging used for feedback not whining and there is a difference(constructive criticism) check other technology blogs. But guess we will always have different views on this but since you seem to be the new “I’m not happy with console and its all about me” poster child, I’ll look forward to your post. And I think you have at least 10% of the post in here. Just scanning over this entry. 17, 23, 32, 40, 44, 47, 68, 79, 86, 91, 97, 109 out of 110. I’m not sure why it takes you 12 post to say you are unhappy but ok I think all of us can conclude you are unhappy with the update after the third maybe fourth post, but I could be wrong, “I could be wrong”. I think if you give us another 12 post we will finally see you are voicing yourself completely and are truly unhappy with update and etc.

    –Juben–

  • Jukken what are they trying? It has been three weeks since a store update and they release the same amount as their weekly updates. They also told us that there would be a surprise for us on the 17th. Guess what it’s the 17th and no surprise. TRYING is all good and well but guess what TRYING is just another word for failure. Sony I hope you read every post and see how many disappointed users you have on your hands. If you get time check out the forums and the numbers will increase. At the end of last year I was ready to sell my XBOX but now I might have to re-up my XBL account.

  • No PS1 games?

  • I, too, have to mirror what most are saying as this update is underwhelming after 2 weeks gone and so much hulabaloo over the new site.

(AND THE SITE IS STILL LOADING SLOOOOOW! so far way slower than the html site! I know the site is new, but now is the time to FIX IT before everyone starts blogging about how it not as fast!)

Glad to see the Lair analog controls available, i might actually rent the game now!

    quote from 103 violator:
“DLC is the devil I am convinced.”

I’ve been saying that for a while now, but i’m afraid it’s here to stay…

the developers can see $$$ in taking stuff out of a finished game just to sell later..

when that content should have been simply included in the game or given free at a later date to those who paid for the full $60 game.

    it’s a rip-off, nickel and diming bullpoo.

And the ONE DLC I would really have wanted, the Grand Theft Auto 4 new city content, is Xbox 360 exclusive. DOH!

On the topic of the PSone games, I really actually wouldn’t want any, since the graphics now in retrospect are so horrible, unlike 2d retro games for nostalgia, the PSone games are full of huge polygons and jaggies everywhere!

    BUT!

I can see why people wonder why Japan has SO MANY games compared to the US store…

And NOONE has commented on it officially…business as usual i guess.

PLEASE! SONY! DEVELOPERS WHO POST HERE! LISTEN TO US, THE CUSTOMERS!

THIS BLOG WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT FEEDBACK AND REAL DIALOGUE ABOUT THE PS3 AND ALL IT’S ISSUES!

THE VEIL OF SECRECY AND NOT COMMENTING ABOUT THINGS WE ALL ASK ABOUT (ie Home, In game XMB, PSone games, Backwards Compatibility, Firmware Issues, Pricing issues, etc. etc. ) IS HURTING YOUR BUSINESS AS IT ERODES CONSUMER TRUST!

cmon! we WANT to love you! we WANT to be wowed and shown we are thought of as gamers and real people who buy your products, not just as simply the dollars we pay with.

this is called tough love what I’m dishing out…I hate to have to do it, but complacency gets us nowhere!

flame away, but you know I’m right.

  • There’s going to be a suprise?

    Anxiously waiting…

    /honesty

  • What a bad update? Didn’t you guys say that we would all be surprised on April 17th? I’m not that surprised, got everthing that was promised (which is great), but it kinda sucks.

  • @127

Well, I would like to see the Fear Effect games, (never played them) Suikoden, Beyond the Beyond, Legend of Dragoon, Einhander, Final Doom, Street Fighter Alpha 1 through 3, Street Fighter VS X-Men, CastleVania Chronicles, Rayman, Rayman 2, Blood Omen: LoK, LoK 2: Soul Reaver, Resident Evil 1 through 3, Dino Crisis, and Disruptor, just for starters. Just general weekly support, of the sort they bragged about before the feature was made available, would be great.

As for people “whining”, thats being caused by SCEA’s silence and inaction on the issue, it is not our fault.

  • Iron Man demo tomorrow. SEGA has just shot over a little message letting us know that a demo for Iron Man will become available on Xbox LIVE tomorrow. PS3 gamers will have to wait for another day, as the demo is set to arrive on PSN “soon,” likely meaning next Thursday.”

Sony you needs to get rid of this thursday update strategy. Why cant you guys just do it like the other console.

  • SEGA has just shot over a little message letting us know that a demo for Iron Man will become available on Xbox LIVE tomorrow. PS3 gamers will have to wait for another day, as the demo is set to arrive on PSN “soon,” likely meaning next Thursday.

Sony really needs to get rid of this thursday update strategy. Why cant you sony do this?

  • I don’t know if you read all of these comments or not, SCEA, but if you get down to this one, thank you for wading through all of the above. I know I couldn’t have done it and I didn’t. I just wanted to say that I purchased my PS3 about 6 months ago and I LOVE IT! Thanks for creating online content for me to use. I wish I could afford to buy all of it. :) The games I’ve got for my PS3 are awesome. Thanks for this week’s update. I look forward to next week’s.

  • I’m not defending Sony’s veil of secrecy, because its stupid and that’s all there is to it, but imagine trying to get info out of Microsoft…

  • @132

Juben, where, exactly (provide a link please) did I say I bought the PS3 to play old games? Could you explain to me how saying I am not happy with the update, and exactly why, is NOT constructive feedback? Why would I sell my system because I am unhappy with one of it’s three main features? I sold my other consoles to focus on this one, so I expect it to deliver the goods on all fronts.

I am VERY happy with my PS3, I am not happy with the store. Oversensitive people with emotional attachments to entertainment devices, such as yourself, are the ones who keep ignoring that and spinning my comments as being pointless bashing, heck, I told a REAL troll to get lost earlier.

As for why I keep posting, it’s because people like you keep taking my words out of context and attempt to paint me as something I am not, and put words in my mouth, I am simply defending and clarifying my position. If people like you could simply learn to seperate critiques of a plastic box full of wires from critiques of you, I would have left it at my very first post. But you and others like you keep calling me back in, and then ask why I keep posting, which is mind numbingly self defeating logic.

  • @143

WE DO NOT COMMENT ON RUMORS AND SPECULATION, lol. :)

  • @139

Yeah, this Thursday only updates thing is a terrible idea. Maybe Thursday only for full games. But demos and add on content should be added whenever they are ready, as a HUGE lifelong fan of the Iron Man character, it sucks I have to wait till next Thursday to play it because of this bullheaded Thursday strategy.

  • Is it possible for Sony to implement a clock on the PS3 xmb and the PSS. Also it would be cool if we could see or have the choice of allowing other gamer friends to see what blu-ray movies or shows we are watching. The concept is already built in for games just thought it would be cool for movies as well.
    Thank you.

  • Randolph, I don’t think you even hear yourself. This is a bad update because it didn’t give you what you wanted? That sounds a bit like whining…otherwise I don’t know what it is. Sony has come a long way with PSN. They will continue to improve if ONLY people will settle down and give it a chance. And heaven forbid this year goes by and they don’t fulfill anything, ya’ll can find the president of the company and burn him at the stake.

And #134…okay, so they promised a surprise. I would assume the surprise would probably come later on in the day. The 17th hasn’t passed yet so…yeah.

At least Sony was commited to fixing the store for some people.

    *sigh* And the bickering continues.

  • I’d have to say I’m both excited and disappointed with this update. The Warhawk add-ons are a welcome addition. But, it’s extemely disappointing not to see the new Crew song ‘Saints of L.A.’ as one of the downloadable songs…what happened? BTW, great job on the store redesign.
