More PS3 Ad Spots Now Airing

118 0

By now, there’s an excellent chance you’ve seen at least one of our new PLAYSTATION 3 television spots during your favorite programming in the last two weeks.

You guys have all been really great about letting us know how much you like our ads and we really appreciate it, so we just wanted to send a couple more your way that have already started airing.

Last week, Peter Dille revealed spots showcasing the PS3 as an entertainment powerhouse and exciting 1st Party titles. But that’s only part of the story. We have excellent 3rd party titles hitting the PS3 this month that really complement our game lineup.

This first spot highlights Activision’s Call of Duty 4, which arrived in stores this past Tuesday and has been getting amazing reviews from the gaming press.

The second spot features Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed, which will start showing up on store shelves on November 13th. Assassin’s Creed has been one of the most anticipated games of the season, and in this spot you’ll see why.

You’ve all been asking for more PS3 games and we hear you. Call of Duty 4 and Assassin’s Creed are just two of the great third party games coming to the PLAYSTATION 3 in the coming months. Exclusive titles such as Haze from Ubisoft and Metal Gear Solid 4 from Konami, plus Burnout Paradise, WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008, and Time Crisis 4 showcase a varied lineup that you can only find on PLAYSTATION 3.

Keep coming back because more spots will be unveiled in the next coming weeks. And, before you ask, yes, we are trying to get all of these spots (including the PS3 brand ones) onto the PLAYSTATION Store.

Thanks again for all the great feedback and being so passionate about our brand!

  • Hey just noticed this post knocked the first of the firmware 2.0 PR debacle posts off the front page. I’m sure the bigwigs at Sony are glad that the story that had 700 or so posts complaining about 2.0 has been knocked off the front page….

  • Awesome ads! It’s nice to see Sony taking some initiative and marketing 3rd party games before Microsoft grabs them up.

  • I didn’t know that a CoD 4 commercial featuring the PS3 was made. Sweet…maybe that means more people will get the PS3 version than previously expected. I don’t care that a lot of these games are multi-platform. The PS3 exclusives for year 1 have been very solid; Ratchet and Clank was downright spectacular. Games like CoD 4 and Assassins Creed have been getting excellent reviews. Next month Haze and Orange Box come out. Can’t wait to see commercials for those too. Finally, last but not least, I can’t wait for some Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune commercials. They need to display this game EVERYWHERE. They need to make all the retailers make the demo playable for customers. This is the kind of game that will make people drop $400 for a PS3.

  • I’m very pleased with this holiday’s ad campaign. I don’t know about anyone else, but I sure would like to see this available for download either from the PlayStation Store or the official US PlayStation site. I still have last years ads saved on my PS3.

    Keep up the good work.

  • Great Ad indeed Sony love the Assassin’s Creed one.

But can I request something please bring the PSN Cards to US soon my Credit Card still saying on the store invalid info and I just call my bank to update the info for the minus/dash on the Postal Code area and the problem still there o_O and I want to download a few goodies on there I mean download the goodies and the add-ons for my games. See my SAD panda face over here please bring the PSN soon ^_^ (like before the end of the year lol).

  • Get the Sony Bravia Play-Doh commercial up on the PS Store.

  • WOW finally some ads !

AND DVIX IS COMING TO PS3 very SOON!

Your PS3 can see dvix file NOW! But can’t play them right now…..

  • PLEASE TRY AND REACH THE GENERAL PUBLIC, BY TARGETING TV SPOTS OTHER THAN THE COMEDY CHANNEL, PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING OR SPIKE TV. I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A CERTAIN DEMOGRAPHIC YOUR TRYING TO REACH (WHICH BY THE WAY IS WONDERFUL). HOWEVER, THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND/OR CASUAL GAMER KNOWS ABSOLUTLY NOTHING ABOUT THE PS3 OTHER THAN “IT’S EXPENSIVE” (OF COURSE THEY DON’T SEE THE VALUE, LIKE YOU AND I DO).
I HAVE SOLD MORE PS3 CONSOLES SIMPLY BY “EDUCATING” PEOPLE ON WHAT ALL THIS AMAZING CONSOLE DOES AND IS CAPABLE OF (AND I’M NOT EVEN A RETAILER, JUST AN OLD GAMER) THAT RIGHT THERE MY FRIENDS (IN MY HUMBLE OPINION) SHOULD BE YOUR PRIMARY FOCUS. EXAMPLE; LET THE PEOPLE SELL YOUR PRODUCT FOR YOU, BY WORD OF MOUTH, GIVING THEIR PERSONAL TESTIMONIES. WHY? YOU MAY ASK…BECAUSE IT’S EFFECTIVE AND IT’S FREE! JUST RESEARCH THE CABBAGE PATCH DOLL CRAZE, COLECO DIDN’T ADVERTISE THAT PRODUCT NO MORE THAN ANY OTHER PRODUCTS THEY SOLD, I’M NOT SAYING ADVERTISMENT IS NOT GOOD, POINT IS, IT WAS THE PEOPLE WHO TURN THAT DOLL INTO A PHENOMENON.
THE QUESTION IS HOW DO WE REACH THAT PINNICAL?
AGAIN THIS IS MY HUMBLE OPINION AND IS COMING FROM A DIE HARD SONY FAN, TAKE IT FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH.

GREAT JOB SONY, KEEP YOUR GAME ON!

    PS. LOVED FIRMWARE 2.0

  • @48: They don’t advertise the PSN as being free compared to XBL because, content and function-wise, it doesn’t even compare. It’s nothing more than a content delivery web page at this point.

Also advertising cross-platform games in PS3 commercials is brilliant, because it may lead people to buy the superior console instead. The COD4 commercial is a good idea, but most of the long PS3 commercials are full of exclusives like R&C: Future and Uncharted.

I think the Uncharted video with the Massive Attack song on it needs to get aired as a commercial all by itself. It’ll have everyone saying ‘wtf is this, I gotta play this!’.

  • Oh and I forgot. To Kim Nguyen, on the intro page for this post you mention a list of exclusives including Burnout Paradise. That game is also coming to Microsoft’s box.

  • LOL…. Kudos for the acknowledgement of people whining for the tv spots on the PSN… :D Please do release them… 1080p too!

  • @61 If you read better, you’ll understand that all of these games make a lineup that you will only see on ps3, not that you’ll see these games only on ps3, that you’ll only see this ‘lineup’ including the exclusives and the non exclusives.

  • 2.00 firmware crash my ps3. i cant get online and it said dns error!!! please fix this problem.

  • Great line-up!

You guys should advertise more first party games though, and the commercial here in holland doesn’t even show any games (just some weird bullet dodging clown at the end)

PS: Is F1 still part of your line-up or is -the worst game company- EA now owner of the right?

have a couple of themes i put together, ones an Apple OS/X style and the other is my Sega test theme. both are still in ‘beta’ testing at the moment -i will probably delay the release of the full themes until March :)

ps: quite chuffed with how the Apple one came out

  • good to see some games coming out along with some nicely done adverts.

  • great work!

  • Yes, it’s nice to finally see meaningful ads for games that are NOT for the other console. But, from a user standpoint, having our own personal music during games is mandatory. If the original ‘other console’ could do it, there is no reason why the far superior PS3 can’t. I don’t want to be forced to listen to whatever so-and-so wants me to listen to. If I want to listen to classical Bach while thrashing in the mud during MotorStorm, then I should be able to do so. What is the sense of having a ton of hard drive space for music if it cannot be used during games.

As well, the simple music directory format of Artist\Album\Tracks is STILL not available? What’s up with that.

  • nice job sony it’s good that you are making these third party games look like exclusives and please don’t listen to some of the whiney losers on this page talking about in game xmb and extended friends list. of course they would be nice to have but he totaly went about it in a rude and wrong way. but lets talk more serious peter dille. what about the rest of the world? i keep getting reports from people that live in europe on my friends list and on the internet that there commercials suck really bad. is it out of your power to fix this? can’t you bring some of americas great sony commercials to places like europe UK holand and ireland. well basically any country that speaks english as there main language. listen i don’t know if i’m directing this to the wrong people but if you really want to be the king and rule the world like we did with playstation 2 it’s gonna depend on stedy world wide marketing. peter i’m depending on you to go to the europeian marketing department for ps3 and hooker slap everyone how works there. no really don’t do that but tell them to get there act straight and start focusing on the games that people want to play. i can understand differnt marketing tactics for spain asia and france but a dude in a pink touksido puting a poodle in a washing machine douging bullets? this is rediculous. but other then that great job peter and sony we’re gonna take it to those 360 losers this christmas no one can stand up to the almighty sony we shall make microsoft and nintendo cower before our greatness. ps i really like 2.0 but ever since the update i can’t open my web browser on my jmdmwtptwDOOM account. keep in mind that i have over 250 book marks. hope you network guys can fix that in your next update. alright peter and everyone at sony peace

what about headshots that actually take off the head on rfom

  • Can’t wait for MGS4!

  • Yeah finally Sony makes it appear as multiplatform games are exclusive… because Microsoft has been doing this forever. A lot of my friends didn’t even know that Skate and Stranglehold were even on the PS3!! This is a great tactic

  • btw did anyone get an error that won’t let u login the psn?

  • you guys need to push assassins creed more and start talking about home and little big planet more those games including metal gear solid 4 are really whats going to sell the ps3 this coming year. i love the tv spot that shows off grand turismo, home, heavenly sword, uncharted drkaes fortune and warhawk

  • the6one……here, I just wanted to encourage you guys on everything playstation as I know you are hard at work. We were down a little while but it wasn’t forever. Keep and use this as added motivation to show what this brand can really do. Also worth noting is the fact that the playstation 3 version of smackdown vs. raw 08 got a better metacritic and user metacritic score than the competition. Keep up the good work. the6one…….signing off.

    the6one……

  • Go COD4!! :D

  • @doomsonyman:

Holland’s main language isn’t English but Dutch, however, almost everyone in Holland can understand/write/talk English. But hey, i get your point!

At least we play games and watch movies in their original form/language. The real problem in Europe are countries like France, Spain, Italy, Germany. All the tv-shows, movies and games have to be in their main language.

  • I’ve seen these, The Simpsons , and the first party ad on TV a many a times.Great Job!I pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed months ago and can’t wait and while I’m there getting it I’m going to pick up COD:4.I’m also getting Uncharted seeing as how the Demo was so awesome.Speaking of Uncharted are you guys going to advertise its very worthy self? That game is going to be a Playstation classic.

  • @EDWINDOWS

haha sorry about that thanks for correcting me. but yeah even for differnent countrys and languages those europeian commercials arn’t gonna make anyone buy a playstation 3. i would sleep better at night knowing that sony got there chips in place in every country/territory but sony seems to only be stepping there game up in north amercia. it’s really frusturating seeing a company you love fall to third place struggling for control in the console war. but even if they don’t come out on top in this generation i’ll still be here to show my love and support.

  • Awesome commercials. CoD4 rocks AC looks good. I’m glad you guys are advertiseing the PS3 ike crazy and I wish you the best of luck this holiday season. Man, with all these great multi-paltform games that are better on the PS3 than the 360 (CoD4, AC, UT3, Burnout Paradise) and the tons of AAA PS3 exclusives (Uncharted, Haze) coming out, the PS3’s gonna kick butt this Christmas!!!!
….and wait till spring ’08…..MGS4, FFXII, LBP, Home. ..and the 360 has NOTHING.
2008 will be the year of the PlayStation 3!!

  • These are great ads guys. Go tell SCEE to get their heads out of their arses and do ads like these. I’m sorry, but the weird crying baby thing and all the other stuff just confuses viewers and weirds everyone out.

Wait a while before doing the artsy stuff. Right now all that matters is showing those awesome games and the $399 at the end. I went to BestBuy today and they had only a small pile of PS3’s available as opposed to their usual pyramid of them. My friend grabbed one while we were there. Lot’s of people on the PS3 aisle, so I think you guys are really turning things around both with games, marketing, and price point. :)

  • speaking of price point with all the features like wifi and free online and hd dvd and blu ray. to add wifi and one yr on xbox plus hd player a 360 would cost more than a ps3. u guys gotta push that sony. we wanna see gears of war quality game coming up and more blood and guts rfom would be a perfect game with more gore.

  • SO MANY 2.0 issues, first ya dont give us what we want and now errors. i know this isnt about your advertising, but shouldnt you keep customers while also trying to make new ones?

  • Everybody have something to say about everything that sony does. And i’m not different yea i like the commercials they are good and better them the baby “Creepy” And to respond about some of you guys. We all know that Everything is getting ready for Home, and that is why the XMB haven’t got a makeover.

  • There are some real [DELETED] on this blog. Complaining all the time about in game XMB. The games are here, and they are 100000000% better than the [DELETED]

  • great ads sony! i cant wait to buy these 2 games… keep up the good work and good luck! i hope to see more great games too :)

  • Oh, and to No. 2, I wouldn’t say that at all. First, I haven’t even hit the current cap. Are you just whoring out your name to anyone?

Second, In-Game XMB would be nice, but if I were to rub the magic lamp for one thing it most definitely wouldn’t be that. They’re already working on it, and I can think of many things that are more important to me as far as PlayStation goes than that.

This thread has some interesting alternatives to a full-on In-Game XMB: http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=psnetwork&thread.id=155202&view=by_date_ascending&page=1

  • What’s up with the dust voids the warranty sony? Kotaku is running a story that dust voids the warranty. It doesn’t make any since, my PS3 is covered in dust, I clean it about once a month, but I keep great care of it and play it almost every day. I hope that this is changed in the policy because the PS3 is a magnet for dust.

  • this is what Sony should have been doing in the first place but hey at least they got it together for the Holiday Season

  • A word of advice to everyone at SCEI,

I hate to say this, but I must in order that you may not be surprised by what comes your way. You can expect consumers to still have a bad taste in their mouth despite the great TV ads and recent price cuts. I am telling you this because we are going to win this thing we call a console war but it “will not” happen over night. As I said in one of my earlier posts, You guys betrayed or alienated many of the faithful consumers that made SONY Computer Entertainment Inc. what it is today. Somehow, someway we forgot that aside from our brilliance and genius marketing/advertising and manufacturing that the consumers played a large part to our success in the videogames business. I sincerely hope all goes according to plan this Holiday season for the PS3. We really need sells on this thing and I am confident that we will indeed get them. Everyone at Sony, relax and take a breather. What’s done is done and can’t be undone. We have to move forward and realize that the mistakes we made are stepping stones for success in the future. The company will grow phenominally in revenue and sales once the PS3 is no longer outside the view and reach of the average consumer. Keep doing your thing with blu-ray and don’t be discouraged because I once too did not believe until later. Here’s the bottomline folks at Sony; blu-ray is the future, PS3 is the future, and blu-ray movies and games are the future. Don’t be disappointed with sales of either blu-ray or the PS3 because they are both the future, and many consumers right now are still living in the present. Just patiently lead them to move from present-day thinking to future-days thinking. It’ll all pan out just as you guys have predicted it. Here’s how I see in the future. The Wii by next year becomes almost dismal to gamers because of nintendo’s lack of 3rd party support. They’ve got 1st party and that’s it. That is not enough to keep this industry going. Sadly, our japanese counterpart will go from being mega-successful to “yesterday’s news.” Our billionaire friends Microsoft will do what they can in infleuncing the 360 as the market leader for next-gen tech and this will be their downfall. In the next 2-3 years it’s going to very hard to convince consumers that their machine is the best once developer’s realize they cannot develop certain projects on their console because of the limited space of DVD 8gig. As developers become more familiar with PS3 technology they are going to realize the monster that this system is and will be more intriqued to develop projects on the PS3 rather than the 3 fix mees console. Rest assured, PS3 is the superior machine and “time will prove just that.” There are lots of other reasons like Home, LBP, free online service, amongst awesome franchises like next-gen iterations God of War series, SOCOM series, Resistance, Ratchet and Clank, Drake, Shadow of the Colossus, and many other factors that will prove the PS3 as the market leader of this console generation. Happy Holidays, let’s sell a “ton” of consoles. Signing off……

    the6one…….

  • Anyway you guys probably shouldn’t advertise COD4 untill the server issues get fixed.
Really 20 minutes to get into a match and IW doesn’t have the decency to even make a comment or apology.
When the warhawk servers were on the fritz at least those guys had the class to make statements to the community.
Anyway Just my rant hopefully if it gets heard things get done.

  • Good TV adds! Finaly Sony shows off what the system can realy do!

On a side note: Any word on Wipeout: HD for the PS3? It was announced to come some time this year last I heard but with no new info and a major lack their of information on Wipeout games in General us fans are starting to get a little worried.

Please if you could post a blog update all about Wipeout: HD (PS3/PSN only) and Wipeout: Pulse (PSP only) that would be great!
